Please help me set up to play Q2 over a server!!!

Hi Guys,
I desperately want to get set up so I can play both Deathmatch and CTF on the web. I previously downloaded the patch for my current version of Q2 (3.05), which worked at the time, but uninstalled it to play Half-Life. Now, having re-installed Q2 and re-downloaded the patch, I can't seem to get it to work properly again.

I have downloaded the 19Meg patch which upgrades to version 3.20 but it comes down as a zip without auto-install and I don't know where to put the files to get it to work. Have I got the right patch to play CTF too?

Please help me set it up... I LOVE IT!!!!

Which patch do I need to play both? and how do I install it?

I'd really appreciate any expert advice on this,

hmm.
I originally got the patch form a cover CD so don't know about the zip thing. Try unzipping to C:\Windows\Destop\Q2PAtch\
and then looking there - see if there is a setup exe.
alternatively ask around and see if anyone has an installable version...

CTF is now at version 1.50 (I think) and needs a patch to play all the maps. At last check the 3.20 patch included the update, but not Q2CTF6 -> Q2CTF9 maps. They have to be got seperately.

Hopefully someone will find some links for you as I have not the faintest idea as to where to find these anymore.

Try unzipping it to C:\quake2 assuming that your q2 is in that directory. This should overwrite all previous versions with the new version. The worst that can happen is that you have to re-install.
