Please Help, I Cant Play Like This

hi sorry to bother you. i was wondering if you would be able to help me. since 1.4 was released i have found it hard to kill others even if i am close to them. i stand beside some1 and empty a clip at them but they still manage 2 kill me. i turned on my netgraph and my choke is up at between 40 and 70. i remember my friend telling me ages ago tha choke prevents you from hitting people or something like that. basically, how do i remove my choke? i have looked at tweaking sites but nothing. thanks for any help

1Ghz Amd athlon processor, 384Mb ram, 64Meg graphics card.(this is not the problem thoug as i get max fps).2 10 Gbyte harddrives .cable broadband connection.

i usually play on the uk2 servers but changing shouldnt drastically reduce the choke. it is really affecting my play. i cant hit shit even from 2 feet away. its driving me crazy. i never used 2 have any.

When u have a lot of choke make sure u burst , even at close range. Its the vageries of the game im afraid .
Make sure your rate etc are set right too ! If you got a lot of choke, try lowering your rate .

Check Soul's post a few days (week mayhap) back?

Could try ex_interp console command or whatever. It allows you to see what happens on the server as it happens, and not predicted or whatever.

Paug, I would deffo check your rate, cmdrate and updaterate setting m8. Im not on broadband, so Im not sure what they should be, but Im quite sure that they govern the amount of choke recieved.

Type rate into console to what it is currently, then try lowering it a bit (like 200 or so)
Same with cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate, although these should only be lowered by 1 or 2 at a time. It could even be that they are all set far too low, I guess. Im on *cough*56k and my rate is 3500, cmd is 17 and update is 26, so you should be waaayyyyy higher than that.

Its your connection. Check with your providor to see if there are any issues. If you play on UK2 ask them if they have any issues with your isp.

maybe updaterate and cmdrate.. tweaking them helped me when I had problems.

I assume you have a blueyonder cable connection.

If so, I dont think you should have anything like a 30-40 choke. I have blueyonder and get 0 choke. Occasionaly it goes to 1, but only for a couple of seconds.

Still, doesnt make any difference to my game, I still play like a little old ladie

Perhaps if you told him what your settings are, then it would be helpfull.

and u shouldnt choke on uk2

Actually the one I've found to have the most negative
impact on my game is the cl_rate (on my 56K). It ALWAYS
get's reset to 9999 whenever I change map/server etc
and it always causes huge choke. Triming back down to
around 3500 settles things down a lot.

My settings are v.conservative :
rate 6300
cl_rate 3500
cl_updaterate 18
cl_cmdrate 15

What cable connection 512K or 1meg and is it NTL or TELEWEST.
The optimal settings for a

512k is :- rate 8000-9000
cl_cmdrate 30-40
cl_updaterate 20-30

1meg is :- rate 9000-12000
cl_cmdrate 40-50
cl_updaterate 30-40

Just play around with them to see what suits your set-up better.Also have you tried resetting your cable modem lately that might help.

Fek me, you use 6300 rate!!!! What speed do you connect 56k at??

I connect at 40k, but my rate is only between 3200 and 3500.
