How do I play unreal tournament with another person over the net. ie one to one

just klick on internetgames and connect to a server thats all

Sorry You misunderstood what I meant.How can I play against my brother and only my brother.What I mean is if you have their isp address how can you connect and play each other.

Fairly simple steps to go one on one (or how ever may you want :)

  1. Each connect to internet (if dial-up...)
  2. Person hosting server finds out IP address (ipconfig for NT/2K/XP or winipcfg for Win9x) he has been assigned.
  3. Each start UT
  4. Both players connect to an IRC channel using UT's IRC chat facility: Mutiplayer->Find Internet Game->Chat (player nicknames must be less than 12 (I think!) characters ... small bug in UT IRC client.
  5. Join any chat channel:
    irc.barrysworld.com (irc.quakenet.org if BW is down)
    #'mychanname' (just make one up - channels are transient)
  6. One person starts UT listen/dedicated server using "Start Multiplayer Game" configured to NOT advertise to the master server list.
  7. That person puts a link to the UT server in the UT IRC chat, use the format of unreal://'ip.address' and other person will be able to just click on the hyperlink.

    That way you'll be on a server one on one with no-one else able to see the server and therefore join! The person running the server will have a 'latency' advantage so I hope you're both broadband connected!

    If the person running the server has a firewall, or runs NAT, etc. then he'll need to allow UDP ports 7777-7781 inclusive to the machine running the server.

Reckless I played against you last night

Hey Reckless I Played agianst you last night on a sniper map your good:D .Some of the maps on that sniper server are very good the room maps are the best.

At the moment I'm unable to connect to the Barrysworld IRC server but don't fret just use the Quakenet ones...

Server: irc.quakenet.org
Channel: #mychan

Also, a bug in UT's IRC client code means names that are over 12 (or something like that) characters in lengh mean the client will connect to the server but fail to connect to a channel. You'll see 'connected' and nothing else.

With the above you should be back on track.
