Playing on internet

I have tried to play Half Life on the internet but I cannot join any games because it cant authenticate with WON.I have tried typing in the servers address but still cant join. How do I overcome this and join in the fun? ( I have the latest patch 1.1.0.6)

Err if u have got a legal copy of HL there are a few possibilities.

1) u gave copies to friends.

2) someone else has obtained your cd key.

Either way, you are going to have to get a new one contact valve tech support.

If u have got a warezed bitch copy then go outside and buy a legal one. Its only 20 quid for hl generations u cheap whores.

I am using CS on all my machines!!! Still works!! We can also join the internet with no probs!!

Becuase won authentification problems usually arise when two or more people try to use the same won.

Its not hard.

I can log on again. All I did was put in the full 1104 patch again then upgraded with the 1106 patch and hey presto.( and it is a real copy by the way)

Er... don't want to piss in yer chips m8, but.......

What may have happened first time around is that some scrote has got a hold of your key, probably via a keygen programme.

When you tried to get WON Authentication, the other person was probably on-line, using your key. Therefore you get grief and dont get authenticated. It probably said "CD key in use", or something.

Now, chances are that after you did the re-install and stuff, the other person stopped playing. When you tried to join a server, the Won server authenticated your CD key, cos you were the only person on-line with it at that time.

So heres hoping the other person was just pissing about and wont try to go back on-line (at least before you do).

Better still, here's hoping everything I've just said turns out to be bollox and the problem was cured by the reinstall.

Only time will tell.
