Player made weapons - Amazing or no?

I heard someone say that they got about 40% more damage with player made weapon than with dropped weapons of about the same level, does this sound about right to you?

I don't think this was against ppl with epic armours, either.

do the maths

random drop : 16.2 dps 4.0 delay 91% qua

-effective dps = 16.2 x 91% = 14.7

crafted weapon 16.2 dps 4.0 delay 99%qua

-effective dps = 16.2 x 99% = 16

so what about 16.2 with a speed of 2.4 weapons?

Difference between a 4.2 spd cleaver and a 2.4 spd 16.2 axe?

Usually the slower the weapon the more damage it deals to your opponent.
Thus the cleaver with 4,0 speed inflicts more dam than a 2,4 one. But hits much slower.

we were talking crafted/dropped weapons here so you can't go comparing apples and oranges then (germanism?)

dmg from weapons is expresses in dps (Damage Per Second) so

high delay (= hit slow) => hit hard but slow
low delay (=hit fast) => hit less hard but faster

over time , damage evens out

low delay = hit thru bt's , hit fast and do less damage
high delay = first blow is a killer (first blow has no swing timer) and you inflict massive damage every time you swing

It all boils down to whether you use a weapon for its melee damage or for the stats/proc on it. If the stats/proc are more valuable to you then use a dropped weapon with them on, if the melee damage is more important then use a crafted one.

Generally the stats on weapons are useful for casters whereas melee classes like to hit things with them. Hence all you melee types will want a crafted weapon whereas the casters probably want drops. Certainly I can't see any self respecting wizard replacing his 50th level fire/earth focus staff for a crafted one so he can do 20% more damage in melee :D

not really

Only drops that are 35% bonus are legion/Dragon, all rest are 25% with some Epic mobs dropping 30% bonus weaps.

Firstly as Hendricks Post will scream, Quality is king, 91% weap means 9% less damage off the cuff. 25% Bonus weaps have a -10% chance to hit on epic armours, ie u will miss 10% more than using a 35% bonus weap.

Also if u have a 35% Bonus weap vs a non epic parmour player, ie wearing 25% armour, you will get a 10% bonus to hit and also that 10% is also converted to extra damage somewhow.

End game the ONLY weapons that do more damage over time than Crafted weaps (including procs and stats) are legion/Dragon drops.
