playability vs beauty

hope to god ive spelled that right:D
anyway my point,does anyone think that the latest maps that are being produced are leaning towards beauty and not playability?.i know im probably gonna get flamed to hell 4 this.but give me siege,assault,aztec anyday yes these do get overplayed but for a reason,quick,exciting games not long drawn out affairs with 1 team member left spending ages looking for each other,this occurs on a lot of the new maps as they are so large.right hold on i'll just go and get my asbestos suit on.

Beauty isn't really a factor when you consider how old the HL engine is.

one of the reasons for the long drawn out 1v1s would be most people not as familiar with the new maps as they are with the old, naturally, so do not instincively know where to find the opposition.

I disagree m8. The new Piranesi map looks excellent, to my mind as good as say, RtCW. I disagree with the others though, Havana and Chateau looked (and look) shite to me, dont understand the big deal. I also think Survivor looks top, but there you go.:)

I would think Survivor would be nice if it wasnt too bright,
ie: When going down into the Valley, its a pain in the arse when you are trying to aim up at the bridge, you cannot see with the cursor because the Sky is far too white and the crosshair is light green.

Disagree you may but the fact remains the maps are limited by the engine and while it does look better the whole of CS looks fairly shit.

i still think some of the maps look really well,this comes from a guy that still has a zx81 though.;) i agree with tieran as well though,i just cant get used to these big maps.

Change your crosshair colour :)

A blood red crosshair would be ideal all round, not many backgrounds have Red there

adjust_crosshair in console. Only effects non zoomed crosshairs.

No long drawn out 1v1's on Siege and Assault.... have you been playing on LAN alone ?

Assault and Siege have long drawn out 1v1's nearly every bloody round :(

Aztec isnt innocent either, it has 1v1's that last a while, but they involve movement, and are generally easier to watch.
