I got SC for the PS2, to try FPS on consoles.
Although the game isn't bad, console controls are shite for FPS games. Wish I hadn't bothered.
Just thought I'd mention that.......carry on.

It's not an fps.

And the controls are fucking A1 on the xbox, no doubt better than for the ps2, and imo better than on pc.

Need I remind you that FPS stands for First Person Shooter.

It contains bits where you snap in to first person mode, but it's not an FPS. And ignoring semantics, FPS = quake and the ilk, Splinter Cell is more like MGS if anything. I don't think you could call MGS an FPS.

Well you could, but you'd be wrong :|

Incorrect, it's all FPS, as shown by these

screenies.

You are in first person, you have a gun, that'll be an FPS then.

Well actually none of those are first person shots. They're over the shoulder. Not the same.

Also, the majority of the game is not even in that mode, it's in 3rd person mode, much like MGS. The ability to snap in to a first person mode and have a gun does not make a FPS. If it did, then Rayman 3 would be a FPS. Which it clearly is not.

Stop arguing for arguements sake, Yuck. I actually have the game, it's not an FPS.

I like those shadows. Does the engine screw up and let you see people through walls via them or does it know that shadows usually stop at walls and floors?

Chardonnay is bad for you. Blame Mrs Yucks sis, she wanted a drink and it seemed inpolite to not join her, and a waste of opened wine. I don't drink much, lightweight boozer, I'm a cheap date!

PS2, I noticed this the other day.
I'm in the CIA building, I know a guard is going to come through the door, his shadow appeared before the door opened.
*Bosh, hides body*

I really hate that, totally spoils the game imo. In Morrowind I can see creatures through walls and ceilings with full shadows on and that bites wind :/

aah, I thought so, I've played XBox and PC versions and there's no sign of that... It's probably one of the many corners they had to cut to get it onto the PS2 ;)

I knew he was taking the piss. I think.

But I had a suspicion that he was actually just a thick bastard.

It turns out I was right on both accounts :)
