I say no, as it's an adoptation, wich is preatty normal but alot is ther own too so it's not a plain out re-write ala skater girl, dono if the actually credit it on the album ?
still abit interresting ;)

anyway to the point "knew I'd heard it before!!!"

YouTube - Classical Gas - Full

and claptons version
YouTube - Eric Clapton - Classical Gas

and now to the point ;)
YouTube - promoe - these walls don't lie

oh and I'll leave you with one of my fav guitarists version
YouTube - Tommy Emmanuel - Classical Gas (Live)

PS: I know it's very normal for rap artists to do this so not really accusing, topic was just to get your attention :p
However if they dont credit it well then................

and well guess in many ways rap songs differ abit on this as they dont really plaigurise a melody as they reinvent it
but ofc, you always gotta give credit were it's due

lol considering the number of covers on youtube i am not sure

Rap is a little different, you will often find that the tunes they use are owned/liscenced by the label they are on anyway

I am not sure tbh, surely if they change a few bars then it is no longer the original tune?

Not to mention the twenty million "ghost writers" for most rap artists out there. lol.

surely you understand the concept of a ghost writer :p
In which case what has that to do with the thread topic other than a thinly veiled dig at the genre

I say no, as it's [...] due

well, Promoe didnt do the beat but when DJs do records they usually put in who did the songs they sampled etc. so i would believe that its been credited. in any case its a pimp ass song for more than 1 reason.

it can also be as a tribute including pieces of famous songs in new songs.

If an artist does not credit the writer and tries to claim it as their own music then its plagiarism. Like when David Bowie/Queen sued Vanilla Ice

YouTube - Ice Ice Baby

YouTube - Queen and David Bowie - Under Pressure

Covers are very different though, if a band put a cover version of a song on an album then they have to pay royalties to the original artist. Though I think its only if they make a profit from it, its a rather gray area, I very much doubt they pursue every local pub band who plays one of their tunes.
