Ping 54 over a lan

Just got a lan setup at my house yesterday, but when i tried qw over it noone could get a ping below 54 :/ This seems pretty high as i've seen plenty of isdn players over the net get pings of les than 50. Does anyone know how we can get it lower?

if u run the qwsv on a win9x machine the clients cant get under 54 ping. i think this is because for some reason it only updates 19 times per second.

the best OS for running qwsv on is linux - we're talking 13 ping 0 pl rock solid even with a client on same machine and iffy cpu

failing that win2k/nt should b fine, altho bear in mind that if u run a client on the same machine u will need a reasonable cpu to get perfect performance - on my celly 450 i find allocating the qwsv.exe "above normal" priority is optimal for playing on lan under win2k.

if u dont have access to a linux/nt/2k box it may b worth considering setting up a dual boot configuration if u play a lot on lan.
