I could try and do this subtly, but what the hell...

I've had my first feature column put up on intrepid media, and if you want to read it you click on the inviting green link below...

www.intrepidmedia.com/feature.asp

Oh, and I got sacked yesterday.

And I'll start an e/n site as soon as you start an Angry Young Man's Mailing Circle.

Manager: I need to talk to you Lou

Me: Is this a sacking thing?

Manager: Erm... No! Well... Its just, we need to reassess our human resources department and...

Me: And?

Manager: Its just we need to take on someone for twenty hours a week that is professional and dedicated.

Me: Oh, that's really not me.

Manager: (nervous laugh) We could try and find you another department to work on? Where would be your favourite place to work?

Me: I can honestly say I have a distinct absence of enthusiasm for any department here.

Manager: Right... Front end?

And so it progressed. I got a councilling the other week because I'm dyslexic and can't read the string of numbers on the reduced stickers, which wound me up a lot. The only reason I stay is because its paid weekly, and the hours can be moved about to fit in with uni.

I actually read your column Dam. The people here that know me better can vouch that this is an amazing feat, though it's lunch-time, I forgot my dinner money, so having 20 minutes to fill gave me a nice chance. I'm impressed, funny, yet it made me think.

I think I'm halfway, I buy toilet roll before I've run out, but I don't buy for colour quite yet.;)

Column was entertaining, much more so than a lot of the other stuff I glanced at on that site. Makes me think I should try doing more Brothers Dead comics on StripCreator again..... maybe not.

I thought you said you were sacked? Now you're saying you're working elsewhere?

Interesting column though.

One day a special area in the kitchen is designated as the area that the "notepad and pen to write the shopping list on" is kept.

Phew, at least I'm not the only one that does this then........

They're definately saying I can't work in human resources. They're going to scrape the barrell of the safeways rota, and see if there's any shift anywhere else they can offer me to replace it, but as stands I have no job.

You seem to have such high opinions of your previous employers. Especially with the witty comeback lines to your manager. I hate to be ... [insert word here] but do you think it's that that made you lose your job in the first place?

Nah, I lost the job because I was shite at it. The sarcasm was a free gift. :)

In all honesty, I'm being truthful, rather than obnoxious. If you wanted a professional person for filing and computer work, you wouldn't hire a scruffy dyslexic who has a bad habit of completely zoning out. And I don't want them to go all out to try and appease me and not make me upset about losing my job and try to accomadate me when the chances are I could quit any second.

Funny how pimping is usually abhored by the forum as a general (no pun) but when Damini "gets to it" it's accepted :p
