Pie idea

A chef buddy of mine is opening a steak restaurant in London. The menu's pretty much fixed. Steaks, burgers, ribs and shanks of lamb etc. Starters include king prawns in garlic, whine, and butter. Superb deserts. Great side orders including onion rings and mash. He's a wine expert too so lots of very good wines. All good stuff, very reasonably priced. One or two veggie options but its primarily for carnivores.

He's toying with the idea of including a steak and kidney burger. I love steak and kidney pie so I quite liked the sound of it even though its a burger. He's not sure if it will work.

What d'you reckon ?

But consider what's in your average fast food beef burger. 100% pure beef ? Yeah sure. OK maybe MacD and BK use pure beef cos they have to to avoid being sued for millions of dollars. But your average kebab shop or burger van or Wimpy: lips, eyes, noses, scrotums, cow arseholes, plus whatever the "chef" coughs / spits / sneezes into it while he's preparing it.

Perhaps you should stop going to the same kebab shop...

Kebab meat isn't that bad, the long-standing shops (if you go to the right ones) do follow health and safety (they would be shut down if they didn't).

Steak and Kidney burger sounds horrible. Wouldn't touch it.

IIRC kebab meat is so awfully horribly bad for you because whilst the outside of the meat may become cooked the inside may still be frozen/uncooked hence you have Cooked and Uncooked meats together, causing the blood and whatever from the inside to bleed into the cooked meat making it abit gammy.

Also the fact that millions of flies/bugs whatever land on them and so on.

Tbh he should make one and get the balance right and sell it, if your a fan then he'll sell lots and if you don't like them he'll have other stuff for you but tbh he'll have a really origional item on his menu which will make his restaurant stand out (if its done well).

Personally I don't mind kidney as long as its cooked nicely sometimes when people overcook them , eerrgh man its like eating boot leather.
