Hi folks.

Will be going to Barbados for my honymoon this year and would like to get a few pictures of the night sky, as whenever I have been abroad, the views of the stars and milky way have been amazing.

Problem is I don't have any experience or equipment.

I have my iPhone with a shutter speed app, and I may be able to borrow a friends digital slr (I think that us what he said it was)

Thoughts / advice ? Am I gonna be disapointed?

If you're looking at trying to get milkyway shots and not star trails, you'd need:

- sturdy tripod
- a wide angle lens with a big aperture (in the region of 20mm in 35mm format with at least an aperture of f/2.8)
- a DSLR with good dynamic range at high ISO
- not essential, but possibly a cable release

This was my first stab at night sky photography (wasn't quite far enough north), this was taken on a Canon EOS 7D with a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8.

What DSLR and what lens are you looking to borrow?
