got the beta for 360.. it's decent yeah but I don't think it should have a monthly fee :| it is just a lot of instances like Guild Wars, just some "instance" towns where u can make parties etc, after that u just do missions with ur group or solo which are instanced
I have played Phantasy Star Online Ver 1 and 2 on the Dreamcast, and this game looks pretty similar indeed. Like Raven said, it can be pretty fun playing that both online and offline. Quite basic though for an MMORPG.
i had phantasy star online for the first xbox, was fun i have to say, not like cammy etc and you have to pay a monthly sub to play. It never really took off
on the dreamcast it was a great game, all except the fact people could steal all your items, rob your vaults etc etc. Good game but the prick's of the community ruined your chars with their hacks. No idea if the newer one is more secure.
I think this game is awsome IF you play with a set group of people.
Back in the DC days i played with these 2 girls from scotland (wow they were nutz) and this guy from London and we grouped all the time and it was probably one of the best online experiences i had.
Sure the silly hacking thing it wasn't a hack as such it was just a cheat off an Action Replay card ruined the game but Sega have said that the security is more tough this time i guess thats because people are paying a monthly sub.
Maybe Freddyshouse could make a group or something would be good fun.
i played both PSO and PSOBB (PSO blue burst - basically a test server for PSU). in theory its a great game, but.. i aint gonna bother with it even tho im a huge PS series fan.
the multi formatting thing will allow peeps using console to duplicate items. always been a problem with the PSO series. they never got round to fixing it in PSOBB.
also.. the drop rates on some items will have you tearing your bloody hair out.
for instance on PSOBB: u got a clearance depending on your name and class.. 1 of 9..
then.. u had to go to certain place and kill a certain mob, but its was the rare spawn version of said mob.. thats another 1/36..
and then if u killed said mob.. no shit peeps.. 1/64000 chance of weapon dropping..
tbh i would must rather SEGA developed the one they promised... the online version of Skies of Arcadia... space pirates!! arr!!
its sad that a great series is ruined by cheaters on consoles tho. once a rare wpn drops it gets duplicated, and wen they check for dupes.. if u own one.. u get the flak.
Ps2 still rocks tho to play. see how high u can get Nei before she gets killed off heh
