anyone played this before? seems to be coming out on the xbox with episode 1 and 2 in one package. just one thing though, can you ONLY play it online? because the description seems misleading, at the top it says xbox live is required to play this game then at the bottom it says you can play single player mode. either is a typing error or you need xbox live to activate the game or something.

Ull be able to play offline, sometimesu just gotta =p but the whole point of the game is being online.

I have this on the game cube and dreamcast and will be getting this version just for the voice comms.

This game cost me £800 in 2 mnths first time around and i dare say i wont be play it much but if u havent played it b4 prepare urself for bad body odours, loss of social interaction skills and general no life

But online is where its at unfortunately, as a sp game only it would stink

Played a demo of it on PC very samey and not very fun even when playing online. Unless u like FF type turn-based fighting them u might like this, but I prefer Real-time fighting more skill involved.

PSO is comparable to diablo 2 (far superior tho)

Its all about getting the best kit and looking the coolest and just general mmog stuff.

Combo driven kills are the call of the day with big fat weapons that glow

And when (a long time away) you get bored of it all, try and hack the game and destroy it for the rest of us =(

Is PSO totally cross platform? Like I can play with people on DC's and PS2's etc etc?

i dont think it is because Xbox live uses voice and the DC version uses text to communicate. some how the DC version would have to be able to convert the signals from voice to text or something like that so people would have to buy a new version of the game as i dont think DC has downloadable content does it?

you can only play offline single player on XB version IF you register it first on XB live and get a gamertag. The game doesnt go any further until you do this. So if you havent got broadband, what you would have to do is take your XBox round to a mates house, plug it in, register and go offline, take box back to house, play.

Are you sure? That seems stupid and im sure i tried it offline maybe before giving my details...

Yup, it seems so, sorry to be bringer of bad news. We tried sticking the PSO I+II Xbox game into the shops demo machine, and it wouldnt progress farther than "go on xbox live and register". We couldnt get it to play single player without doing this first. I think it said this on the instructions too.

It really cheesed me off, as im a big fan of PSO, and was gonna gettit for Xbox. I can see SEGA/Microsofts point tho, it is cheifly an online game, maybe they thought it wasnt a big deal, i dunno.

Ahh well looks like ill have to buy the cube version just to play it.
but then again, why pay £6 a month to play when u can still play the DC version for nowt, the servers are STILL running(could be the cube servers for all i kno) and have ppl on it. OK they are mainly japanese, but if you talk to some of the english speaking japs they make great teams cos they dont tend to cheat.

Get yourself a broadband adapter or 56k modem for your DC and youre home and dry!

Well i DID have a copy of pso and broadband adaptor for sale a while ago but no-one cared but decided to put my time into the xbox version, lack of keyboard and the chat thing makes it much easier/weird.

However, due to an absolutely monstrous addiction to it during the dc era i am finding it hard to enjoy as much as i used to, yeah the new levels are nice but i just cant seem to 'connect' with the game anymore and i have to say it, it does feel a little stale nowadays.

When i say monstrous, financially the game dented my wallet by more than £800 (£600 phone bill, 3 memory cards (one with 4 slots), keyboard (xploder when hacking became rife) and the days i missed at work i darent even think about) and impressed me enough to get the pc i am now using :) . BT disconnected us for 3 months as we couldnt afford the bill.

Its an incredible game, get it immediately if you didnt play it like a junkie uses heroin during the dreamcast, and probably will remain my fondest console game memory (theres been a few over the years :) ) but i think its time to let this one remain that way as opposed to getting back into bed with it :( .

Did i mention i liked the game?
