PGPNet

Im in need of this software but cannot find any info about it anywhere. It took about 30 mins to find out its made by Mcafee but on their site its not listed at all. Im told it comes with 'Personal Security' but of course this is also missing. Anyone got any useful links for this?

Is that the same as the old PGP encryption utility thats used to encrypt emails and attatchments? Im pretty sure that the rights to the software were bought by Mcafee, but thats all I know.

PGP Freeware 7.03 includes 'PGPnet Personal Firewall/IDS/VPN amongst other things. Not sure if this is what you might be after.

The Outlook plugin doesn't really work with Outlook XP, but this is probably irrelvant given your question.

Not sure what's happened to the VPN features in the new v8.0 - the freeware version is much diminished compared to what you get with 7.0.3.

Hope that helps ... never used the VPN stuff myself, just the encryption parts.

Managed to download it yeah ta. Wasnt till i was setting it up going though the manual of a unix box that it said the freeware version doesnt allow access though a VPN server. So I can connect to the server but not actually browse the network :/

Looks like purchasing will go into it.

PHPFreeware threw me at first as I went to version 8 and it was just basic plugins for outlook etc.

I wonder what they mean by this -

I can only assume that they are saying you can connect to a server and access it's resources, but it doesn't actually act like a gateway to allow you to further browse the network 'behind' that server. And from what you say I'm guessing that's more like what you want to do.

Shame. Googling on Freeware VPN doesn't really bring up a lot!
