Had to buy a new PC, and was wondering if it actually is good enough. Heard people say that warhammer is almost the same as AoC. Is 4gb RAM enough?

Thanks for your help.

That is a very high end spec. That setup should run WAR fine.

If you are getting lockup/CTD then it is probably because of badly designed code. Some people have found that if they tweak (randomly change) some graphics settings then it works a bit better.

Food for thought:

Presuming that your water kit is for the CPU only, I would personally get 2 x 4870 1Gb cards and stick the Accelero Twin Turbo coolers on them. The trouble with the X2's is that you can't get a cooler for them (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and they run very hot (70-80C). My single 4870 (Powercolor) runs at 40C under full load with the 3rd party cooler (was 77C).

If you're thinking of crossfiring by getting another 4870x2 then fair enough, it will kick arse big time, but just be warned that your system will cook unless you have a very airy case and you might also want to check that the single 4870x2 will actually fit in the case, let alone two of them. I had a 3670x2 and that only just fit into an Antec 900 case.
If you are thinking of crossfiring two 4870x2's then a 1KW PSU might be an idea, whereas the 750W one you got on order should run two single 4870's.

I'd also bin Vista home and get Vista Ultimate 64 instead.

I'm not helping am I :p

Well, nice tips. The thing is that the company that i ordered from will put the pc together, and they just sent me an e-mail were they stated that the setup looked just fine. If it runs like shit, get cooked, or lack power i'll return it. Just hope i don't need to do that, as I'm very keen to start playing warhammer :)

correct me if i`m wrong but i thought WAR doesn`t support multiple gpus like crossfire / sli / and the radion x2 cards and offers no support for multiple core cpus. a dual core cpu at 3.2 ghz should outperform a quadcore at 2.8 ghz.

i might be wrong though :p

think you are right about the 2 and 4 core. Chose the 4 core because of future gaming. Hope the card i got will work fine though. Will maybe in the future get myself a ultimate vista and 4 gig more ram. But think this will do 4 now :)

For Windows VISTA
  • 2.5 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
  • 2 Gigabyte RAM
  • A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
  • At least 15 GB of hard drive space
Supported Video Cards
ATI Radeon(TM) series
  • 9500, 9600, 9800
  • X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
  • X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
  • 2400, 2600, 2900
  • 3650, 3850, 3870
  • 4850, 4870

hey, the 4870 is probably one of the finest cards to be bought at this moment, i`m just unsure if it will use the second gpu in warhammer. ofc, like you say, it`s a future proof investment. /looks at his ati 3650 agp card and feels jealous ;p ;)

well i`ve got the 4870x2 card and iit does seem to not support the doublefeature. However having said that WAR runs like a treat. No lag no nothing on highest everything..
