First:

I took my Computer to a mates, who i was selling it too,

Second:

Come home, formatted my Computer, to install Win2000 on, coz i dont like '98 no-more. So FDisked, Formatted, and going thru installation of 2000 (From CD). But, the CD Rom i have (4 speed) took ages.
so, phoned mate, bought a CD Rom of him, come home, installed it, but the CD Rom wouldnt Eject, so rang him again, went back down over mates picked up a replacement, yay it works, he showed me..

So, i go home, get ready to go thru the 2000 install, it says NO HARD DRIVES ARE INSTALLED, so, i go to FDisk, and go thru Several options one by one, still with all the same outcome... 2000 wont work.

I install Win98 again, only to find my stupid f00king Intellimouse (Which i bought like 2 weeks back) is now dead as a Dodo, i formatted computer again, tried installing Millennium, but notice i aint got a Serial, so i re-install 98..

The mouse is STILL dead, so im gonna have to tell the company i got it off.

Anyway, ive installed all the drivers now, and im gonna install the keyboard crap etc, and guess what, this fuckin CD Rom packs in, just wont recognise ANY CDs

If you're using the RAID controller you have to press F6, just after the first blue screen comes up, to use the driver disk that should be provided.

Right, you know how i said Win2000 wouldnt install on this Hard Drive coz it said there was no HD available, well i asked around, and it seems that i need to install something for the "Highpoint" Hard Drive.

The Hard Drive is a "Fujitsu MPE3170AT" 17gb. I was given a Floppy Disk with "Hotrod 100 Pro" he said i have to install that first because im on a different UDMA thing..

Can anyone help! i need this shitty Win98 off, and Win2000 on!

You partition from within the Windows 2000 DOS setup but once it starts booting, first blue screen appears, it'll says press F6(At the bottom in grey bar) so press F6 and later it'll ask you to insert the highpoint disk.

Right lol, when i get a better CD Rom, i will try that out... check this for weird..

First CD Rom

Quad Speed CD Rom, far to slow to install Windows 2000

Second CD Rom

The Eject Button wouldnt work, couldnt try inside Windows because Hard Drive was Formatted.

Third CD Rom

The CD Rom just wouldnt read any Disc' i put into it.

Fourth CD Rom

The CD Rom works, but, 60% of the time, it just wont read the Disc, have to keep inserting/removing Disc until it works... usually takes a while

===

Now, All that was from Today and yesterday... lotta CD Roms eh?

Right, this one is realllllly f00king me off now

Anything that is to do with Internet Explorer, it keeps crashing after so long.

Here is the annoying error message:

The Instruction at "0x77f8ed61" referenced memory at "0x77ffcd550". The memory could not be "written". Click OK to terminate the Program"

Now, when i get this it closes EVERY damn page of Internet Explorer which is very very annoying...

how can i fix?

Spec btw:

Abit BE6 II
256SD Ram
Super GeForce 2
P3 600 (Was overclocked to 687MHz the other day)
Windows 2000 Pro

I know it may be weird, but i run my pc at 60hz all the time, and it never gives me any problem.
After reading lots on the subject i even changed the refresh rate using powerstrip to 85mhz, but didnt like it and changed it back. Am i mental or what ? Or was powerstrip not doing it right i wonder ?

Hmm, ya know what.. i think i have a virus..

First:

When installing Counterstrike, it would hit me with I/O Errors, and another error, but continue thru installation. I now find that CS didnt install coirrectly and im missing quite a few files (wads. maps etc)

Second:

Internet Explorer will continually crash, and close all the windows which have been open/ed with the error from above.

Third:

I installed Norton AV 2002 last night, but that too had errors while installing, now when i do Virus Checks, it crashes half way thru.

What to do?

(Besides install XP :p)
