PC can't stick 2 accounts

OK it getting to really piss me off atm my brothers pc is about 5 months old and it won't stick up 2 accounts and because of that have to keep alt tabbing between both accouts only way it works is if i minimize both accouts and stick 2 someone else

the spec is :

Amd 3000 64 bit
1 gb ram
128 radeon gfx

Was built by my brothers friend so not sure on what memory he used and seem to have a Raid Controller error don't have a clue what that is in device manager if that helps.

My other pc stick 2 accounts no problem and is about same spec but with P4 3 ghz and 256 gfx card, just get very hot and crashes at times need a new case to sort that.

Has anyone have an idea why the P4 works and the amd doesn't? i kept thinking was something to do with HT in then P4 chip but im not sure.

*EDIT* should try to build it yourself next time so you know what you get
my2 comps works flawless and costed under 4500SEK

we dont ld bud, we just keep losing stick and if you dont, you stop and see your alt running with lag and pulling all aggro around

explain why intels are crappy?
they are not crapy at all, they are shit hot chips, especailly the new socket 7xx ones, i have 2.8g clocked to 3.4g running perfectly with 512m RAM and can stick 2 accounts in wondowed mode, look at porn, watch a DVD and run winamp at the same time, your AMd may be able to churn more FLOPS out but it cant hyper thread - which in todays computing world where everyhtign happens at once - is a disadvantage.

agreed, i can perfectly run 2 accounts on my HT'ed pentium 4 processors.

so what if i have a bit less flops. flops are hardly ever the bottleneck in a gamingsystem.

I can run 2 accounts on my athlon 3500 without losing stick, so it is possible with an AMD cpu.Just up the fsb and lower the timings on the ram then you are sorted xD
