Are you going to be doing Video editing or 3D rendering at all? If not, Quad Cores are kinda inferior to Dual cores atm, but futureproofing is always nicey!
Get a Samsung F1 Spinpoint drive instead of that generic one. I guess the gfx card is more personal preference, but I'd say Radeon > all atm.
Do you really need the Blu-ray drive? It's quite expensive, but then again, its cheaper than buying a straight blu-ray player.
If you decided to chuck the blu-ray you could always invest in more Ram which is always nice.

thx Pikeh for your comments :)

Ok i havent quite left yet ;)

The future proofy thing was what i was thinking when looking at quad core and the blu-ray drive is only £75 anyway, so not a huge impact on the overall cost.
And i can get the ram up to 8mb fairly cheaply. Might do it when i order or just wait and add it later.

Why are you asking here? In the middle of emo-knights (tohotori) and super-chavs(you all know who(laddey)) you won't really find the answer. There is a hardware section if you really want an serious answer.

Yeah, because the new nVidia cards are according to every single test underperforming for what they are priced at compared to the ATi cards, so I guess the problem with the hardware section is that they don't really want people to spend money on something that simply put isnt worth it, when there's cheaper alternatives that also performs better, or just as good.

Lets say it like this:

nVidia's top card(GTX280) in SLI, costs almost twice as much as 1x Radeon 4870x2 - and only performs 5FPS better in Crysis. Yeahhh I wonder why people are so pro ATi.

And if I come off as a fanboy btw, let me just say that if you asked for a graphic card before June this year, I would have recommended the 8800GTS 512mb or the 9800GX2.

Thanks Helme for your input, its much appreciated. Looks like i will be getting a 4780x2 setup then.

Really wanted to see if anyone considered the nvidia cards a reasonable alternative currently.

Once again thanks all for your comments :worthy:

ATI is the way to go atm. Atleast if you have a limited budget :p
