If you make a payment using PayPal, how much info is given to the recipient about you? Do they see your email address or name, as registered with PayPal?

PayPal don't give you a username, so I suspect you're identified by your email address.
+ I'd guess using a credit card to top-up your paypal balance would be the most common/secure way of using it?

Obviously I haven't used it before... and I'm suspicious of anything online which involves money, images, text or bytes of any sort oO

They see you email address.

If its part of an ebay payment, they will see your postal address as well.

I havent heard any bad things about PayPal. Although, I don't think its officialy a bank, when it really should be...so you arent protected as much.

I just top up my balance directly via a direct debit or switch card. The safest way would to use your credit card, and only to put on it how much you need.

You don't top up a Paypal account. When you send money to someone, if your account is zero, the money comes from either your bank account or your CC. If someone sends you money, it sits in the Paypal account until you decide to spend it, or transfer it to your bank account.

And yes, if someone sends you money you can see their email addy, and their address. Once you get your head around it all, Paypal is pretty good.
