patching problems

Ok i am having some problems patching the game.]
this week i have been forced to format my computer and as a result have now put on windows 2k.
Everything seems fine but having loaded the game i find i am shafted when i try to patch, in fact if it starts patching atall the most i can get is 3% in about 40 mins, and this is despite task manager saying "mythic update is not responding"
Just to confuse me even more i seem to be able to surf ok just not patch properly.
So comon guys i know someone out ther knows what is gone wrong or what i need to do to get back in game.

if all else fails, which it may well do...Go to a friends house and install/patch the game, and burn the whole dir to a CD (if it fits...im not sure) and just c+p it to your HD. If it does not fit, find some random large files that are identical in both CD and patched version and neglect them from the CD burn. That, however is your last resort, and there is probably a way to fix it properly without my lavly bodge.
Also....you could wait till 1.52 and the servers may change some how and let you patch properly.

I think my problem is unique but its kinda similar to urs. With Windows XP I can only play dac if it is the first thing I do after dialing to the net. Otherwise I just get program not responding if I push ctrl + alt + del. It helps to push c + a + d and watch it at the same time it is checking for patch to make sure it dont crash. This all starting happening since a patch of about 900bytes (after 1.50) a while ago.
