Patcher painfully slow

Im downloading (the Euro version of) the game right now, about 3,2 gigs worth of game. However, the patcher looks like it "lagging" or stuttering all the time. Trying to scroll patch notes is really hard, moving the window doesn't work very well, everything "stutters". Same goes for the download, about 12kB/s on a 110Mb/s connection. progres bar moves for half a second, then it holds for another half a second, then takes another jump.

Vista Ultimate 64bit, 4 core cpu idling.. I even tried rising camelot.exe priority yaadda yadda..

I mean, wha? Can I just download the client from somewhere and be happy?
