Installing Tribes2 is driving me nuts.
I've been to http://www.planetribes.com and downloaded the first aid program which enables a clean installation, something I cant seem to get as skins.vl2 just wont copy over without errors (using aid program).
Running the new update program (Barrysworld ftp) gets me the latest patch 21570-22228.exe but when it runs I get the following error message -

(when processing base\audio.vl2)

Patch error
Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since the contents do not match.
---OK---

ARGHGHHHHHHH ffs
:(

ps. stupid question, how do you put a picture in here ?

Hoff_Mister, you need to apply the "First Aid" program after a clean installation of Tribes2 (no patches, no NOTHING!).

As to the pictures... click on the link about vB codes for more info on how to use the special features.

Cheers for the advice Zenith

This is the first program that I have'nt managed to install.
Been ferking about for 2 days trying all sorts, swapping cd drives over, altering bios and cd rom settings, and yes I have been running the First Aid program b4 running or patching the game.
Never had this sorta problem b4, this pile of shit is going straight back to PCworld. FFS.
Sure I bet its a good game, but me is going back to CS, ferk this, only so much tweeking I can take. This CD is lucky it aint been thrown around the room.

maybe i'm being a bit simplistic here, but why not let the automatic updater when you first run T2 do all the work for you??

maybe it dont work for your setup but it was as sweet as a nut for me :p

ps. dont go back to CS - this game kicks CS's ass big time - its worth the effort, trust me.....

Hoff_MisTer, sounds like you've got a duff CD. Try copying the file manually and see if you get an error, if you do i would return it for an exchange.

Grilla m8, been doing that for 2 days, nothing but copying, using explorer, checking using the aid proggie, then copying and checking again. Ffs. seems like the Securerom protection doesnt like some CDR-drives or certain DVD drives, thats why I plugged in my old LG cdrom drive.
Seems to me they've over-engineered the protection of the disk at the expence of a lot of peeps - there's even a guy from M$, (Software Engineer) who's having a go at then for not properly testing and releasing a bugged product.
see the seirra forum : http://community.sierra.com/
Some peeps have even re-installed, grabbed all the latest drivers and still cant get the damn thing to install.
One of the developers has stated that there's something like 17,000 ish (cant remember off hand) combinations of operating systems and drivers. (see book of lame excuses - 101)
Very poor form, if you cant install a program, cause the protection on it fucks up the installation !!

too true m8 - i tried doing a back up using clone cd which usually copies everything. it seemed to copy ok until you actually join a server and are quickly presented with the desktop - doh!!

just read a post that quoted dynamix as saying there is approx 75,000 hardware, os, driver combinations to account for.

isnt this the same for every game though??
