After playing CS for 4 days I have mixed feelings about the people who play and regularly post on this forum, some say i shouldn't even be playing because im a newbie FFS, or that we should have our own nursery servers, these so called elitist buggers are so wrapped up in their own importance they feel they should pounce on any person asking a question which they should obviously know at birth. I saw a post where a guy asking what seemed like a perfectly valid question, recieved the answer "RTFM (read the f*****g manual)" as an answer ?, obviously spent ages mulling over that reply. Part of the fun of being in a gaming community is swapping knowledge and ideas, it fosters friendship and good will which can only be good for the game. These elitists may be forgiven the odd bad tempered slip because their skill commands a certain amount of respect, but then i read this article http://www.fragism.com/feature.shtml and the skills i see on servers may be thrown into doubt.

Well overall its been an interesting first few days on the CS scene, i'll put up with the big heads (they will go deformed patting themselves on the back anyway) and even the cheaters because all said and done its a flippin fun game and the majority of people that play it are friendly and welcoming.

As for the attitude of some players sadly every game has a number of players who think they are above everyone else .

From the sound of it you've learned to ignore them and enjoy the game for what it is, and for that I lift my cap to you :}

Aye SAS he has got over the attitude of senior (well i dont want to say better) players, but he just insinuated that half of us cheat. Check the link he pasted there.

As for people being told to RTFM, its valid when people ask things that ARE covered in the manual. I wont accuse anyone of being a newbie unless they totally ignore the map objectives or do things like not know how to rescue hostages and plant the bomb or buy guns. These things are covered in the read me, and even if they dont read that surely while configuring their keys they will figure these things out.

Howler its true there are a lot of cheat for CS, and its true that lots of people allegedly use the, but the accusation u made is bang out of order. Most players get good by practise same as any thing elese in life -and in my opinion the most irritating thing u can do that gets u labelled a newbie is accuse someone else of cheating, all this shows is jealousy or frustration.

Unless you have any proof, and the likelyhood of that is miniscule,shut your mouth and enjoy the game.

RTFM is a well used and well known acronym, which can even be found in the dictionary these days. I quote:

When you buy a new TV, do you sit there on the phone to their faults department asking them what each button on the new remote control does? No, you pick the manual up and find out. The same goes for a peice of software.

My post wasn't pointing the finger at any particular person Ch3tan, and certainly not you, it was just voicing my disappointment after reading the article following a fun weekend. The article speaks for itself and was posted to invite comment. As for shutting up, well should cheating be swept under the carpet then ?? or can it be discussed on an open forum like this ?, sorry mate but i really can't see why you got the hump over it.

Perplex, sadly i havn't read the forum protocol manual or i would have known RTFM was a standard answer and not a sarcastic reply showing contempt, please accept my apologies. I wonder if ardbastard knew that ??

Well he (ardbastard) does now, it matters not if u cant join the fun dont.

No I dont think cheating should be swept under the carpet. If you have proff then you can say something. If you dont NEVER EVER say something in game. Yes you can say something in these forums, i wont flame anyone for that -make sure u dont name anyone though, as without proof it is you that looks bad. I am not getting any hump over it at all, I simply wrote some text. If you want you can follow my advice, you will find more Cs players like you and less call u a newbie or tell u to shut up in game.
