Anyone here do paragliding, or handgliders etc? A friend was describing it (paragliding) today, it sounded pretty damn sweet, and I fancy giving it a try. From what he says, its not massively expensive, and sounds fantastic.

I'm going to sort out a 'taster' day for myself and a friend, anyone here got any tips?

make sure you stay properly connected to the glider, its no good when youre 3,000ft in the air to find out your belt is loose.

dont look down

make sure you dont end up somewhere over the ocean because a huge updraft knocked you off course

ahh i dont know

Let me know how you get on, I've been promising myself a days trial at paragliding for ages. I've always fancied hang-gliding but paragliding seems easier from the point of view of transporting kit. You could have a chute in the boot of the car all the time, whereas a hang-glider is a little too big to carry around on the off chance you get an opportunity to use it :)

They come apart though..... so it is in essence just as easy. Not that having a chute in your boot is ever easy.

I know :)
But I drive a 2 seater convertable, so a hang-glider simply wont fit, at all, ever :) A rucksack will.

Hairdressers don't go paragliding. :D

I'm a manly hairdresser I'll have you know!!

Sounds like an oxymoron. Then again, there's a barbers down the road from me called the Biker Barber (big fuk-off motorbike parked outside)...but, then again, it takes all sorts! But, then again, he's a barber, not a hairdresser...

:D

Myself and Damini decided we'd like to try getting dragged along behind a boat while suspended from a parachute.

One of those "glad I did it" experiences but I don't think I'll ever do it again.
