Paladin Specs... again.

Been thinking about where I'm taking my Paladin to at end-game again... now, the two templates most widely used, I believe, are...

46chants
29 or 39slash
rest parry

Now, being a Saracen, I am obviously aiming to be a blocking champion . So I got thinking about specs that would incorporate 50 shield and came up with...

50 shield
46 chants
34 slash
7 parry

50 shield
48 chants
29 slash
13 parry

I quite like the idea of both specs, but I'm not quite sure... so I thought I'd ask what people thought .

I just thought it would be kinda nice to break the mould of the cookie-cutter templates and see how a "new" spec. would work out in comparison.

I have tried both 39slash 46chants 42shield 20parry and 39slash 48chants 42shield 15parry. They both good solid specs but I find the second one better due to the best af chant and for groups the 20% heat/cold resist chant. I have seen and duelled a few 50shield pallys, and the difference in blocking is very low if there at all. The only good thing I see about 50shield is the low end cost for the lvl 50 shield stun... but as we have end reg its not worth it imo. With 39slash you get the Backslash style wich do more dmg than the Amethyst, and its great after you have landed a slam. If you want uber defence go for MoB 3 ra, its certainly worth it imo. Anyways they all good specs and you should pick the one you find best

Aye, as Sang said ... not sure if the level 50 shield style is really worth it now that we have the endurance regen chant. I've respecced to the 42 shield, 48 chants, 39 slash spec and I love it.

I've actually killed enemy tanks that weren't green con, afk and sitting down. Tis a wonderful feeling

Well, I can 3 shot some classes with Slams, so imagine the power of a Brutalise Plus you get 1s more of a stun

I'm going for 50 shield. I'm an Avalonian so I hit like a girl armed with lettuce, not getting hit is the only thing I can do. My RvR role is keeping casters/healers alive which I do pretty well whenever I actually get to escape from the forge - especially when I use my secret trick. . .

Using cloth Robe and staff in the beginning so tanks attack you?

I think both Slam and Brutalize have 9sec stun, will check it later

No point in having shield skill over 42 unless you're really going to use brutalise - for the extra 8 you can put in shield you can have oodles more in parry which generally makes you better defensive wise... still some people want 50 shield just for the hell of it

Hi,

Being a Saracen, what about specing in Thrust, especially if going to 50 in Shields and 29 in Weapons.

The 29 Thrust style gives u a nice High Damage with Bleeding use from behind style after you have slammed.

The opening Puncture style does bleeding too, and there is a wicked Beartooth that chains after you block to give also a stun, with very LOW endurance cost.

Also this Beartooth can be used upto 3 times in a row after you have blocked (may differ on weapon speed though).

I'm a saracen pala too, and am still very confused what to spec in.

Do you go 42 ot 50 shields
[Does 50 shield style offer any additional damage over 42 style ?, plus the lvl 50 style chains of BLOCK]


Do you go 46 ot 48 chants
[is 48 worth it considering how often u are going to get hit ? The 48 chant does not help you block, parry, it only reduces the damage taken when hit right ?]

Do you go 29 or 39 in weapon ?


As Thrust is based on average of Strength and Dex (i think ??) at lvl 50 I would have base stats of:

Am I right assuming you can increase stats by 1.5 x Level ?

Strength = 75 (maxed at 150)
Dex = 90 (maxed at 165 and 177 with Aug Dex II)

Average for Thrust = 163.5
Against Slash = 150

Currently Looking at:

46 Chants
50 Shield
29 Thrust
19 Parry

But I'll probably change my mind on the next 2 minutes

Anyone out there have a Thruster Pala ?

My Armsman is Thrust hybrid specced. (42shield 44polearm 39thrust 25parry) and I can safely safe Thrust sucks totally for a tank. Don't even consider it. If you want to be different, try going Crush. Slash, however, is really the only way to go for 1h specs.

Looking at all the replies, I think I'll be going 48 chants, 39 slash, 42 shield, rest parry. 50 Shield, as people said, will probably not make much difference.

I just want to try something different, but I also don't want to be gimped sooo.
