Paladin need help!

Hi! I was just wondering if i were to respec to 2handed weapons which weapons style should i chose and would the template look something like this at lvl 50?

Weapon style: 29
2Handed Weapon: 50
Chants: 48
then rest into parry or something?

just would really like some info on 2 handed pally's or not.

weapon style would be 39 i think, and chants 46 and some even better adivce, 2h is crap so dont bother to go that way :p

Ok info on 2H pallys:

First off totaly depends what you want out of your paladin remember there a group class so i would say shield /sword is the best way to go.. But..

i Did injoy playing my 2H paladin but sucked on group rvr ganks and sucked on pve .. If you want to be a good 2H paladin make sure you have a S/S paladin right next to you with guard on you ohh and you will need alot of armor dur goes down faster then a caster runing around naked in emain..

well nice 2H spec would be around 442H 46chants 39slash and rest parry

but take some god info i have had 2 different lvl 50 2H specs and since i changed to SS i have never looked back

id have to advise S&S aswell now since i changed, however, a 2h paladin is still pretty good. i read nothing but "my paladin sucked in PvE boohooohoo", why? i dont have a clue, my 2h was great in PvE, infact to match him with S&S im actually having to twist my chants now... something i never did as a 2h pally, was never a need. i was going to use this spec for him before i respecced at 49

2H - 50
slash - 35
chants - 36
parry - 28

this still wasnt very good for RvR though, so i would go for S&S for good RvR, and a good group paladin... although a 2H is better for keeping agro

it seems like slash is the most obvious choice for tanks

best damage type for albion as far as im aware. i cant remember where it is, but there is a table that displays what each damage type is effective and weak against. also because of how the damage is calculated or summat or other, strenght and dex i believe... i dunno, ask one of the daoc know it alls. this kinda depth to the stats isnt really what im interested, aslong as i know whats best ill use it.

Ok so i decided to go either Slash/shield or crush/shield. Not sure which one yet. now if i do what would the template be?

48 chants
42 shield
then rest into weapon?
or

50 shield
50 weapon
rest into chants.
i want to be a minor group paladin but i basically want to be a pally who can go 1v1 but also in time of need be ale to support group.
so i don't know i want to be a group pally, who does alot of dmg (not 2hd). THANKS!

i want to be that too :(
but im afraid that's impossible... there is no such thing as a paladin doing alot of dmg... doesnt matter how you spec, dmg-wise you will always be a gimp...

Do a:

46 chants
42 shield
39 slash
20 or 15 parry, never remember what you can afford...

Just get Faith Heal or/and Ignore Pain...
Actually work even in 1v1... sometimes... not often.. but .... ....

ive specced mainly because im thinking of what ill be getting, not what ive got. 48 in chants gives the best of every chant bar earth resist, and its not exactly a chant i use regularly... or at all for that matter. just wait till the speed and endurance chant are introduced ;) paladins will finally get the lovin they need, and every group will want one :p

Get FH as soon as you can,
Then Aug Str 2 and Aug Dex 2.

Have in mind tho that the last endurance chant is at 42 chants, i still have my respec for that matter, if it will be necessary.

I've recently respecced and I can safely say, high chants are what makes a Paladin, this wasn't always the case, in previous patches it just wasn't worth going past 38 in chants. If you are going S/S, then 42 in shield could be a life saver, 9 second stun use any time, which will probably end up being the most used shield style in game. 39 in your choice of weapon, you can increase this with RealmRanks and +stats, I think Slash has the edge on Crush, mainly because theres alot more Slash weapon drops about than any of the other 2 style types, plus I think that Slash has a few more use any time styles than Crush/Thrust, which have more reactionary styles. 46-48 in Chants, gives you all but the last lots of resists, which you probably wont use since Clerics/Friars usually cast the group ones and afaik, the Pally ones don't stack yet, the next patch you get stronger resists, but they will eat your mana bar from what I've read, plus also in next patch, you'll get the endurance chant, also uses your mana, which will allow you to fight/sprint for longer.

The basic role of a Paladin in PvE is to hold the aggro, this will usually mean you running heal chant, yes you'll suffer alot, maybe even die some, but one thing I've learnt, if you can keep most if not all of the rest of your group alive, you've done a good job. In RvR, if you are the only Pally, best to run shield chant, the increase in AF means that people will take less melee damage, which is always good. I doubt you'll find a 1v1 situation, mainly because there are just to many zergs going on lately. In a RvR group your main role is backup to the main tanks really, or to keep an eye on casters, so they dont come under abuse from enemy tanks, only problem is, since a Pallys damage output is quite low, the enemy tanks would kill your casters befor you can kill them, but thats wot Slam is for, that nice 9 second stun. :)
However, in the chaos that is RvR, you'll find these priorities change real fast, so be prepared to stop what you are doing and run to help whichever needs it, be it caster or tank.

sorry, my bad, no speed chant, although im pretty sure its something that was going to be in. what i was thinking of is the ability to sprint for ever using long wind and twisting the end regen chant

Afaik, when we get patch 1.54, which is the next patch from GOA, Paladins will have, Endurance regen chant, cast it and your end will regen at a certain amount per tick for a certain amount of your mana bar, think its something like 3-4 minutes worth of end for a full bar of mana using the highest version of the end chant, think there is also a slight increase in the current resist chants, but not sure on that one, Pallys will also get a new set of resists, they are a group of 3 resists in 1, think its mind/body/spirit in 1 and heat/earth/cold in the other, these resists will also use your mana bar until its reduced to zero, having read something on the VN boards and the Pally TL report, seems the higher version of the 3 in 1 resists uses alot of mana for not much more effectiveness than a single chant, but you're covered fairly well if you happen to pick the right resist, thing is, the Cleric/Friar group resist buffs are just the same and are castable on a 10 minute timer, although I can see nearly every Pally running end chant in combat and if there's more than one in the group, thats a lot of time before your end bar runs out. I think alot of rejuv Clerics will be happy that Pallys are getting end chant, since half the Pallys wont have mana to do rezzing. ;)

Well, the main reason I would think most people say Pallys are gimped is because of their low damage output when compared to others in the "Tank" classes, alot of the moaning comes from players who want to be "uber" and be able to kill anything and everything in game. It's true that Pallys don't hit hard, but they were never designed to I think, they are really a back up class, either for Armsman/Mercenary or Casters, who can do real damage, when I put guard on either tanks or casters, I know they appreciate it, cos it helps them do their job, while I'm doing mine. :)
I think once we have 1.54, Pallys will be sought after to group with, mainly due to end regen chant, but if it helps your group win, then that shouldn't be a problem. ;)

edit:

Just thought of another reason why people think Pallys are gimped, it's because up until Mythic pulled their collective fingers out, Pallys didn't have much to reccomend themselves, sure they had chants, but early on in the game there was only 4 chants and the high end ones just weren't worth speccing over more damage. Fortunately Mythic have added a few things, Pallys still aren't a rounded class, ie reasonable at both PvE and RvR, but we will get there in the end.
