Paladin changes

Found this on Camelot Herald just now:-

PALADIN UPDATES

We are making the following updates to Paladins to make them more desirable in RvR, and to generally make them slightly more effective at upgrading their group's overall power and effectiveness.

- All Paladin chants have had their range increased to 1500 (their regeneration chant was at 700).

- The Paladin self armor-factor chant now stacks with other armor factor buffs.

- A new line of endurance regeneration chants have been added to the Paladin. These new chants consume power.

- A new line of stackable resistance buffs have been added to the Paladin. These new chants stack with the resistance buffs of other classes and consume power.

The new spells (all take power at every pulse):

- Endurance Regeneration line
2 Chant of Endurance
12 Chant of Stamina
22 Chant of Persistence
32 Chant of Resilience
42 Chant of Perseverance

- Resistance to Heat/Cold/Matter, stacks with single element buffs:
27 Elemental Ward
46 Elemental Shield

- Resistance to Body/Spirit/Energy, stacks with single element buffs:
25 Soul Ward
44 Soul Shield



So ... what do my fellow paladins make of these changes?

They seem worthwhile to me, particularly the endurance regeneration line as this is in line with the friar buff I've been jealous of ... but I would like to see a little bit more added.

Looks like the outlook just got a bit brighter for us pallies.. not a lot happening to our pretty average damage table though.

But still, lots better than nothing :)

presuming that these resists go up 10% then 20%

if these are buffs then we can stack our resist chant on top which would make bitches for casters to take down.

the end chant would mean we could run longer fight longer.

armour stackable on other armour things would make us very high af with cleric af buffs

range change on heal is great.

but i was hoping they would put snare on that shout we get.

still good though:clap:

You won't get damage; WHY would anyone be an armsman if paladins could actually hurt things? :p

where would you need arms then?

no more damage, would make us too uber.
pala = power and that's it :p

Palas are kick ass as it is now..... and i cant stand stupid worthless ppl say paladins are gimp and shit like that... yet paladin needs alot more hard work to be very effective.. he needs alot better items than armsman and alot more skill to play... and all that is a rare thing to the average gimp daoc player... so its not paladin gimps.. its the guy who plays the paladin gimp... i can compare my paladin to any armsman and merc in sight!!! i maybe do a little less dmg (yes a little) but chants AND revive more than make up for that!!!!
soo if paladins are kick ass as they are now...... imagine with the new add stuff!!!!!!!!!!!! sent my regards to the armsman... ciao


OHHH and never forget.... there is no exp like the tanglers exp!!!!!!

With regards the resist buffs, they seem to be in 2 chants now, rather than 6!!!, which makes life alot easier in the ever changing world that is RvR. About the endurance chant, anyone know if its self only or group (like nearly all the other pally chants)? If group (drools) imagine how popular the Pally will be with that running, oh and looks like we now have a use for our mana bar, other than rezs etc. :)

WHY would anyone want to be an armsman anyway? Beats me :p

And yes Bartar, far too many people call Paladin's gimps, when we are in truth a very valuable class in RvR. Saying that the RP tables don't lie and generally we do struggle in comparison with the wealth of RP's that some classes generate.

I read the announcement as implying the endurance chant will effect everyone in our group. With blocking/parrying set to be fixed soon we can really look forward to some proper battles where defensively specced paladins <bows> can make a difference.

Call me greedy, though, I always want more :)

The single res buffs stack with the triple buffs too, so stupids resistances all round for Albion now

With the AE stun that both other Realms have and the much wider access to AE mezz that both the other Realms enjoy, not to mention the serious amounts of firepower available to Hibernian groups in RvR ... we need those resistances!

So, Albion RvR groups -- please place your order now, I am taking bookings for 2003 :)

Hmmmm, armsman are supposed tanks, take dmg, and give some too. In general armsman do have higher hp, and slightly higher dmg output then a pally. but during an epic raid, a pally is main tank, he can keep the aggro on him with healchant. if i go bug some grey/green con middies with a small grp, i'd rather have 2 pallies who can rez then a grp of armsman. The only advantages of armsmen are the early lvls where u can wear/use the coolstuff before the pallies can, and where u die later then the pallies. And in a massive RvR tank zerg battle.

Hmmmmmm............ me feels gimped for the first time since i playe this game :-(.

Oh well, maybe in 8 moths time someone will read on the VN boards that armsman get critshot on their xbow with uber bolts in version 1.62
CAn't wait till that happens....... a critshot bowman in plate :p

Let me see, so now those chants (going to) stack with cleric resist buffs, hmm lets say you got 26% base energy resist add 20% paladin energy resist and 26% cleric energy resist and you got +6% resists from RA, that means you have 78% Energy resist, Thanes good luck smiting Paladins or for that matter any class with those kinda resists, going to get: You are hit for 25 (-350)!

Too bad pallies dont get determination.

Could just imagine it.

A 1 minute mezz would last all of 7.5 seconds with Determination5 and chant running :m00:

Hib caster stun would last 1.2 seconds :clap:

/em runs off to buy a pally bot :p
