p4s8x ....second ide...???

I just built a system with the following specs
asus p4s8x mobo (bios v. 1004)
p4 2.53 GHz
2x 512 Mb ddr 333 ram Crucial memory
40 Gb Hard drive (have 2 more drive to install)
Audigy 2 platinum
Nvidia geforce 4 mx 440
TDK 52x burner
8x toshiba dvd ( not a new one cuz im waiting til I get dvd burner)
running windows xp on it

Now I have heard a lot of different problems with the P4S8X but the only main problem im having is when I connect both the cdrw burner and the dvd drive the bios doesnt recognize any of the drives. They all just come up as none. but if I only connect one the system runs fine. Other than that the system is running alright other than after doing some things im getting a floppy disk(s) fail(40) error on start. Can anyone help?

you could do boot up floppy seek and/or swap floppy at boot or something like that in your BIOS. or connect the floppy cable properly

as to the drives not being detected...seems to me that you have your jumpers muddled up a bit. check 'em.

Are they set to Primary/Slave mode?

Its not a very good idea to have 2 opticals sharing a channel anyway.
Put them both as slave, one primary, one secondary.
