my 8800GTX used to have 70°C idle, 80°C under load, which appears to be normal for these cards. If you don't like these numbers, pick up a watercooling, 50°C under load ;)

ok maybe its not the gfx card. My comp is rebooting / freezing / blue screen of death. Ive oopened it up and noticed my processor fan is starting, then 10 sec it will stop for a sec, then restart. Could this be my problem?

when the game used to crash a lot for me, the fix was to get the fan off the board and empty out all the dust and shit from it. can't hurt to give that a go.

cannot just pull the processor fan out as it is attached with pins underneath the mobo.

its scary how it just starts, then stops, then starts :X

im thinking of a dodgy wire or something

That's sounds like either the connection has come loose from your heatsink, try replug it else it's the board or something is overheating causing the comp to slow or the PSU is on it's way out. In my experience, things like that usually lead to the board blowing which can result in the following :-

Board just cuts out = dead pc
PSU blows then the board will die as a natural discourse. (smelly)

Possibilities of other dmg :

Ram goes (fairly unlikely, never blew a dimm yet)
Vid card fries (same as above)
Processor goes along with the board (this would take a huge blow of everything before that happens as boards have been cutting out the event of collosal dmg for a while)

Tbh without looking at it I can't really say what is going wrong. I'd take it to your nearest specialist tech and have him/her look at it to be honest. Sounds waaaaay dodgy to me tbh.

if the fan starts-stops-starts, does that happen while the CPU is under load ? or when idling ?

Could be a noise-reduction feature of your mainboard that lowers the voltage for the fans. Check the bios if there's something like RPM Fan-Control, Noise-Control, Silent-Fan whatever.
Another thing would be to attach the CPU fan to another port and a spare fan to the CPU one to see if anything runs differntly.

ok seem to have semi sorted it. The crashing seemed to be a ram problem.. Simply swapping the two ram sticks around has sorted the crashing. my temps are roughly 50/60oc which is a bit concerning me. Im aware that my comp will shut down if they do get too hot, but im currently waying up ways on adding an extra cooling system.

my comp is 2month old and the spec is

Dont know much about computers, but my old computer started to reboot / blue screen also, and the problem there was my HD, it was destroyed...

Personally I would recommend a good case. That cheap case you have got aint the best for heat dissipation. My favourites would be a good silverstone or lian li. A good case with adequate space for cable control is also essential for good windflow which will assist significantly in keeping the GPU and HD's cool, thus prolonging the average life time of both.

Good cases also look bling bling, and can be used for many many years and CPU/mobo lifetimes.

when you say 50/60 degrees what are you referring to? CPU/GPU/system/NB?

Is your powersupply strong enough to support it? It could be a total cut of power just to that..
