Ok message to Tug really, but thought the rest of you O/C'ers might be interested.
I'm looking into getting one of the 550E FC-PGA processors to run on my Abit BX board.
There are a few probs that need to be overcome. The requirements are to have a Socket 370 compatible mobo, it has to be able to support a core voltage of 1.6v and thirdly it has to support the VRM 8.4 DC-DC Converter Guidelines. Now most O/C'ers BX boards support the 1st two, but there are no BX boards that support the final requirement at the moment.
My question to Tug is, can you get a Slocket converter to fit on my Slot 1 Abit that has a built in VRM 8.4 Dc-DC Converter. I know this is possible to do, and it seems the only solution to getting these processors running on BX Boards.
I saw over at Overclockers.co.uk,that they have slockets that support FC-PGA's but I very much doubt it has a converter on it for £14. And if it doesn't it won't work with BX Boards?
Can you check this out Tug or anyone else in the know, as I cant find anything on the web about it.
Hope this is useful to other prospective FC- PGA overclockers.
