Anyone even thought about getting this? i don't see the appeal, playing Angry Birds on your tv is what people want?

There are plenty of other games too, the final fantasy series for example.

Still not sure I see the point, would make a pretty decent Emu machine though, if the controller is any good.

Maybe a media centre too?

Can't say I have looked at the spec tbh.

Don't see the point tbfh. Won't be long before you can hook up say an android tablet to a TV with remote screen functionality or your TV will come with this stuff built in. Basically I think we're just getting closer to TV that works with a controller directly.

Why bother with that? Just put a Ouya inside the tv?

Got ya. Also the new Sammies you can upgrade the processors by plugging in bits I think, ie modular.

Although Ouya is more powerful than a Wii and if you've seen the Unreal engine running on Android it's pretty awesome

edit: and the Ouya is way cheaper than a TV, which is good if you've bought a TV 3 years ago before they had all the crazy shit they have now :)

I know someone who bought a Wii-U

They think it's a waste of money already, it took your typical wii user at least a year before they realised they had got skanked.

id's Rage was initialy geared towards 360/ps3 rather than pc and they had patch it a few times, carmack him self said if the game was a dedicated pc game it he would have done a better job.

Ut3 was performance hog on pc, but recent UE3 based games like bioshock infinite using the newer builds arnt bad on performance

US prices don't include sales tax, ours do (its 2013 guys, don't we know this by now?) so the real price difference is about 20 quid. BFD.

Looks crap as a games console but could definitely find a niche as a more user-friendly RPi alternative, if only because it supports a lot more inputs.

A "real price difference" of £20 is 20% ... so it's still a stupidly large amount of mark up

Not really; localisation could count for most of that. In real terms hardware like this makes single digit margin so the extra profit they're getting per unit is about 2 quid.

A cynical person (not me oh no) might suggest adding such a markup just to get the terminally irate to order directly from the US and save themselves all the distribution hassle ...
