Hiya,

Sorry to sound like a newbie, but just a quick question before I waste my money on a Sky Box Office movie.

Can I record it onto VCR or is it in someway encrypted in some way ?

Just I can unsure as I can not get a direct answer from Sky, they say its encoded, yet others say its recordable.

Thanks in advance.

I can say that I don't know mate, though I have heard rumours saying it can't be recorded.

Don't rely on it is the best advice I can give.;)

Well I have recorded from Sky Box Office before without any problems. However, the last time I did this would have been at least a year ago and SKY could have changed how they send the signal these days.

Hope this helps.

Sky Box Office films are protected by Macrovision and cannot be recorded onto VHS without a MV disabler.

Buy the DVD - it's cheap and better.

ps. what film is it and I will tell you the cheapest place to get it!!

pps. If it's Star Wars ep IV-VI then no joy.

Sky Box Office isn't recordable afaik neither is front row on NTL Digital..
When they send out the signal for the film they also send another signal underneath the picture which disrupts the video making it so you can't record the channel. There are ways around it but like Ono said you need another piece of hardware to do so.

I believe there is a way that you can receive the box office films without paying for them though, you order it and then you unplug your phone line from the box or summat, probably more complicated than that:(
