OT-Hardware help buying

I know I put this in the main General Discussion to but the more people that help the better anyway...

I have £300 to spend on a new motherboard and chip I was wondering what the best one would be to get at this point in time

Especially for gaming

If you can afford it, fastest possible P4 & 512mb+ DDR333 or faster... If not, second or 3rd fastest Athlon XP Throughbred & 512 mb+ DDR333 or faster and overclock it slightly.

Hmmm u could try a ECS MB (cheap and stable), some XP 1900 (cheap) and use the rest of ya money on DDR ram...

My advice would be at least 512 ram...
