Picture the scene:

Its 10AM on a Sunday morning. Its sunny, but pleasantly cold outside, the kind of cold you have to walk into the garden to appreciate. The kind of day where you enjoy watching your breath in the cold air.

You walk inside, check the bacon under the grille, take a sip from your boiling hot mug of Yorkshire Tea, and keep an eye on the toast. You pick up the knife, butter in the other hand, waiting for the toast to finish.

It pops up, you liberally spread the yellow goodness all over, and grab the bacon. Chuck the bacon onto the toast, and you're just about to pop the toast 'lid' on your bacon toastie, when you have a heart-stopping moment:

Brown sauce or Tomato sauce?

Bacon has it's own flavour, why change it?

Any sauce ruins a bacon sarnie, but as you've spread butter on it already it's already contaminated.

I'd throw the bread away, then lightly toast a couple of nice thick BROWN sliced bread. Then get the bacon (grilled, not fried) nd trim any fat off, then just plonk it between the two slices of bread and away you go. Not only does it taste so much better it's hard to measure but it's also a little healthier too.

Sauce should only be added if sausages appear in the sarnie.

A small sprinkling of cheese goes down well on bacon, or with the above. Or on anything tbfh.

I can appreciate both an un-sauced and brown-sauced bacon buttie, even with or without butter.

But not tomato sauce. Filthy. Eww.

Salad Cream and/or Tartare sauce is also nice with chips ;)

I don't think I've tried bacon and egg on a buttie. Sausage, yes.

Soda bread. It's an irish thing. Lovely too.

Oh and it's got to be brown sauce in a white bread bacon sarnie. Top stuff.
