Thoughts? Views?

I assume many of know what this is (take a look at www.operationflashpoint.com for more info.)

Just wondered what the gaming community in general felt about this upcoming game. Massive multiplayer possibilities (from about September!).

Y'know. Just wondered.

While you're here, fancy a sandwich? Tea?

Yeah I played the demo which was fun! Once my whole platoon were wiped out and I was the only one left. But unfortunatley I was injured so I had to CRAWL the few hundred metres back to base  And once I got in a car and then a tank blew it up straight away :upyours: But its not quite polished enough

The demo is only 85% complete (though I don't know how they can measure that.)

Apparently the full version featues a lot of modifications and improvements.

Op Flashpoint is f0000000000000king incredible. I really cannot wait for the bastard to come out, its the exact kind of game i love. The platoon interaction is great and i even think the expansion of missions (like doing the background stuff> driving people around then moving in before the killing) is great fun.....

http://www.flashpoint1985.com hooooooooo momma. I gotta get me a slice of this beeeeeeeyaaaaatch.

also, on the demo when you go into the village at the bottom of the hill and the tanks come, nick a RPG rocket launcher and go into the houses! poke the RPG out the window> great fun.... the tanks take pop shots at you and the surrounding houses actually crumble away! ooh its TENSE

You know there's a truck load of user-created missions you can download for the demo?

Downloaded the demo a couple of weeks ago, and overall it's pretty impressive.

Good points:

* Great Atmopshere - probably best feel of "being there" so far
* Almost unlimited freedom (although may be considered a negative point by some)
* Beautiful visuals - lighting is very nice
* Emphasises teamplay more than any other war game/simulation
* Seems very open-ended and expandable

Bad points:

* Far too difficult, even on easiest setting
* Teammate AI is useless - they often target friendly troops when say driving a tank, and they can't drive jeeps without crashing into objects/each other
* Vehicles are too fragile - the jeep takes one knock on an object, and it's finished
* You're unable to run over enemies, while in a vehicle, if the enemy is laying prone
* Sniper rifle has no zoom levels - this is strange, considering the game is based during the Cold War period. If it was solely based during WWII, this would be accurate

Looking forward to the full version, although it's sad that the patch to add decent multiplayer support won't be arriving till around September. :(

i got the demo and:

1. It was jsut toooo slow

Maybe it was meh comp (athlon 700, geforce) but changing thes ettings to max or bottom made no difference..jsut thought it could have been vsync - any ideas?

2. Other than that it was cool - cept everyone was dead in about 5 mins and i was left crippled, waiting to be shot :)

I'm told that all the points quoted above have been fixed in the press demo and full release (although you CAN run over troops in the public demo.)

Shabazz - the game entered development four years ago and so is optimised for use on 3DFX cards. It'll lag a bit on your GeForce but this has also been fixed in the full release.

I'm not trying to sell the game here its just that I fucking love it!

Played the demo and couldn't stand it. I don't know if it was the interface or the monotonous voice of the actors but I didn't play for long till i hit uninstall.

Graphics are shabby and it runs as slow as a turd. The crosshair is crap as-well, i wish they would just add a normal recoil crosshair instead of that fly buzzing around in-front of your face.

I have also had enough of realistic games atm. There is only one type of realistic game and that is err... realistic. They all revolve around running in, killing people and trying to hit a rescue a hostage/retreive a package. I have more fun playing DM games like Q3 where movement is a key factor (rocket jumps etc).

But for ultimate gameplay it has to goto Tribes2. It isn't realistic so the ideas are imaginative, and the gameplay/graphics/teamwork/community is awsome. It also has variouse styles of play, if you want to play stealth, pickup a cloack pack and shocklance, kill Heavy flag defenders just as lights are about to cap. If you want to play full on base rap0ring, Heavy armour, sheild pack and fusion mortar. The gameplay is emmense, every game is different where as Realistic games tend to be the same. CS, you run round a box, wait for 3 mins till all the people who are actually good injures the enemies, then you come out and kill em all off, look great at the end of the map when it wasn't you who did all the work.
