Not done a useful post in a while so i guess there's one due, a new thing i have been playing with is

legal free streaming shows. As some of you know the battle for online TV is on with divx launching their new HD

site to rival youtube so it's time for a roundup. I will only be covering the legal versions so if your

looking for links for a***g, p*****d, tv****s, etc etc.. not the place to look

Yep, even the cheapskates channel 4 are getting in on the act, they have 2 offerings the first is called 4oD

channel on demand, it basically lets you view or download the current weeks shows for free

and you can pay .99p to download archived shows such as:

BBC
BBC - Dragons' Den - Episode Six
Requirements
-UK & IRe Residents only with valid tv liscence
This isnt a tv channel per-se but more lets you watch your fav programs at no cost,
its not very well organised and you got to know what you are looking for really, but heres an example of a

show from dragons den

The BBC however are releasing a new on-demand service letting you download anything from their archive, which

means full-lenght shows with no ads paid for through tv-liscences called the BBC iPlayer

they work in a similar way to when they did the olympics

Still in closed beta so you need an invite to get in, i borrowed some details to show you guys what its all

about, live tv streams and limited on-demand content

And the video quality is far better than the previous 2

Peak times there was a bit of buffering but nothing overly irritating

-Need an invite to join (and you need to register)
-Not much content at the moment in the on-demand section

Directly competing with youtube, with HD quality clips (at the moment capped at 720), i thought this was a

great site and the quality is just insane.
It has the feature of creating your own channels or using pre-made ones which troll uploads and sort them

into various sections based on the section it was uploaded into and the content tags:

Joost is by far the best, but it tends to get some odd shows... it likes Hentai Anime for some reason.
Anyway, Joost is ok. It has seperate channels for each type of show, sci-fi / biography / cars etc etc.

One thing I would say is, don't bother if you don't have 1Mb+ connection, even on 5Mb its a little slow - at work its no problem.

in .dk we got some of the same with dr.dk › forside which lets you watch archieved shows of their own production more or less. not sure coz i dont use their site since they forced upon us a tv license if we have computer with access to the internet - its the worst, i have to pay around 170 quid a year (179 dkr per month) and there has been some politicians considering raising it a notch, cant afford it as a student etc. - counts for anybody with a modern cell phone, even ipod i think (Even if you dont have a tv installation! making me sick)
