One thing i can't understand...

The odin's eye programme is banned yet people on irc talk to other enemies explaining to them where the hibs/mids/albs killed them.

I do not use irc,maybe only if i am not playing perhaps but i do not mind people using it but surely telling people information to get the upperhand from help from another realm is as bad as using radar sometimes?especially on relic raids,when someone says about it on irc.

I just think it's annoying when you are taking a keep back and all of a sudden a fg spot you when they never take that route,they are from another realm that the keep doesn't belong to and they have no intention of going that route usually.

When a realm is defending or retaking keeps and others tell another enemy where who is, where and how many it spoils the game in my view,not a flame this thread just seeing what people's views are.Surely i am sure hibs and mids have had this too so...

I agree Sycho me lad...those ppl giving away info like that on IRC are dicks. No if ands or buts...they are complete dicks. Why on earth would you give that info away to another realm? What possesses someone to blurt out info on RR's and locations of enemies other than to appear l33t or a popular playa on the servers. If you give info away like that you are not l33t, you are not a Prydwen celeb, you are not gonna be popular with the other realms...all you are is a wanka who talks too much and cheats. Resist the temptation to use the info you see on IRC and call that wanka who gives out obviously sensitive info a WANKA and get him banned.

And if you happen to use the cheating info someone blurts out on IRC to find enemies or disrupting RR's by other realms then you are just as much an asshole as the person who spoiled it in the first place.

Well. Honestly, there is nothing we can do for stuff happening in IRC
channels. We have no power at all over IRC and we have no way to trace the
fact that this guy in IRC was actually the player using this name on his
character in DAoC.

Well.... things such as RelicRaid info gives the person a nice ban... at least in #daoc.prydwen

Thing is they have to spill the info before you can stop them tho

On the other side... I think a few have traced the ip's of some of them blabbers, and... paid them back, so to speak (omfghax0retc)

Spilling things like 2fg of albs at mmgE doesnt really matter much, since people already know albs zerg Emain 24/7

You forget a simple fact though Mattshanes/Sycho. Odin's Eye is a program which keeps you updated with someone's position 100% of the time. If you keep your group in motion (as in not camp mmg/amg for about 2-3 min and then realise 3fgs zerg you) then you wont really face this problem with IRC. It's not like someone can track you by IRC unless that guy is a stealther with mach 5 and decides to stalk you just to tell others where you are. (And you know what..? I doubt that.)


And as Sohawen said, you mostly do get the information anyway. So a simple solution to this problem is to keep moving. Otherwise you are sitting ducks and more or less deserves to die.


It's quite classic for example that stealthers whine among each other by IRC about "stealther-zergs" and so on and mostly post the position at the same time, but does it really matter in the end? Nope. If your so-called "position" gets uncovered then it doesn't really take that much time to move to another position.
(As in adapting to the situtation).

It's called ingame intelligence being sent from random people of the guild that owns the keep to the people in the vicinity *or* from random stealthers which just saw you people being there and decided to act.

Perhaps it's annoying and so on but that's life ^^

So when a mid guild owns a keep that's not on route to anywhere really and a fg of hibs show up at like 3am it's perfectly normal and happens all the time?

I have an idea - why doesn't everyone scream "RELIC RAID" as often as they can on these irc channels. Once they've had enough false alarms they'll eventually get fed up rushing to check their precious relics all the time.
