Lulz :)

The connection, of course, is spurious and entirely coincidental. If the Pope had known then what's known now he'd never have done it.

It's funny - because it's either proof that God doesn't exist or that God loves paedo's. Catholics consider the word of the Pope to be the actual WORD OF GOD - therefore God knew that Saville was a child abuser and still praised him.

Harsh damnation of God and Catholicism indeed :)

Pope John Paul II is on the quick road to sainthood as well so its even more curious - cant be many prolific paedophiles who have been knighted by a saint...

This whole thing is crossing over into eroticism for me, all this talk of fondling, molesting and oral sex, sexual favours, the inquest transcript is going to be the new 50 shades of grey for peodos.
I can't wait for the movie, with suitably age girls inserted of course... phanar phanar

The Pope is regarded as 'the Vicar of Christ' - vicar being derived from the latin vicarious meaning to act in someones stead/with their authority so the pope is claiming to act with Christs authority.

This is based on very little from the bible and is considered blasphemous by other sects of christianity.

iirc one of the last promises Jesus made to Peter, the first pope was: "Whatever you hold true on Earth, I'll hold true in heaven." If that's right and true then anything the Pope says is something God must adhere to.

All bollocks anyway!

Who doesn't. You have to restrict it to at least 16 years of age, that is if they tell the age. Otherwise you dont ask any questions.

But the claim that Peter was the first pope is pretty tenuous in itself and when you add in that the latin bible is a badly translated version of the original greek text then you'd want to see it stated plainly which it never is.

Bad translation is why the catholic church goes on about the trinity - its not in the original greek version.

The problem with what you've said there is that it's demonstratively bollocks.

Unfortunately :(

...
tut tut, "pope" is a common noun...

I normally don't capitalise anything to do with religion on purpose. I must have been drinking.

Just like this evening :)
