I've been to the Pixar site and watched the short. I don't think it's going to be an actual track, especially since they mention he was hired to do the soundtrack, instead of having a song chosen for use

How does that work Scooba? Lots of people are hired to do soundtracks (Oakenfold for Swordfish, Holmes for Ocean's Eleven are just two that instantly spring to mind), they then make tracks for the film... but they're still whole tracks.

dunno if this is related. but I quite happen to like Hans Zimmer as film composer. Great gladiator and blackhawk down soundtracks. one of the few cd's i've ever gone out an bought

Audiogalaxy used to have a good "what the fuck is that tune?" forum. Dunno if its still up though - coz the RIAA got them.

Eric Serra's score for Leon and Bernard Herrmann's score for Taxi Driver. Both complete classics, IMO.

My reasoning was;

Firstly, it's a short film, there's no soundtrack release for it.

Secondly, McFerrin doesn't list it in his discography

Thirdly, Having watched the thing in question, it doesn't sound like a 'track' as such, it's more backing music.

As far as classic soundtracks go, anything by Lalo Schiffrin is fantastic along with Ennio Morricone, both gods.
