The one thing that hasn't changed is that NVIDIA still carries the performance crown. In spite of the fact that we never recommended the GeForce3 as an affordable solution to buy today, you cannot argue that it is the single fastest graphics chip on the market. Not only does NVIDIA carry the performance crown, but since the chip was released last March the GeForce3 has also been the only graphics card offering DX8 Pixel and Vertex Shader support.

Sorry for dragging an old thread out but Im bored.

Several different sites have tested R200, and performance wise they have a different message, Anadtech seems to be the harshest, but seeing as Anand is nVIDIA's bitch I'm not shocked really. Only site I really trust now is Tom's Hardware, and his conclusions seemed much fairer.

Isnt Tom's HArdware famous for pushing the product whose company offers them the highest bribe?

Heh I could have been more subtle and longwinded about that in retrospect. ahh fuck it it'll do. :)

Luckily for you, he's the only site reckoning the P4 2GHz is consistently faster than the TBIRD 1.4GHz in benchmarks too :)

IMO, if more sites reckon one thing is faster than the other, believe those sites unless you can test both for yourself......innit :)

Yeah, but Tom usually falls on the side of AMD, so him saying Intel were faster is pretty believable. And he did say that it all depends on the benchmark you use...

P4's rock :)

Most sites seem to have R200 and GF3 taking 50% of the benchmarks each. However Tom's was the only one to really stress the fact that the Radeon 8850 used was Alpha silicon, and was using Alpha drivers. If it rocks that much in alpha, bring on the final version :)
