I loved El Mariachi and quite liked Desperado too. I can go into detail, I don't think there are any spoilers but SPOILER WARNING ANYWAY - - - - -



1. Salma Hayek is *criminally* underused, she's in just two main scenes, both are in flashback.

2. The cameos by Enrique Iglesias (block of wood with a mole on his face) and Mickey Rourke ("Is this the AA please?") are bollocks and stick glaringly out.

3. The main gunfights are incredibly DULL. 10 guys run onto set, 10 guys die in much the same way. All the while bullets flying everywhere but a la A Team our hero never takes a bullet. After 10 minutes into the film I was already looking at my watch. Not a good sign.

4. Jonny Depp is one of the saving graces in the film. His character then goes on to do fk all really and the end bit (SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER *with his eyes*) just stinks of....why?

5. The plot gets a bit messy mid way but not due to being a complex storyline but due to it being shoddily written. Several friends said "I'm lost?" or something like that but then didn't actually CARE that they weren't following it 100%.

ranting aside, I realised the bits where I am actually supposed to be more interested (the gunfights) are the most BORING bits in the film.

Poor. I'm being generous if I give it 4/10 and that's largely due to Depp being charismatic, if he wasn't in it it would get a 2.

the director wrote it and filmed it like that as he wanted it to depict the "word of mouth effect on myths" which the marichi was meant to be like.

Why the fuck did he not get killed painfully? Mickey was alright, but Enrique was just bad.

4. Agreed. I would probably have walked out if it hadn't seemed that Mr Depp was taking the film somewhere interesting. Unfortunately they ran out of time/budget and gave up on the Usual Suspects style plot and just killed everyone.

I think that's the most cliche thing that all you guys are saying. I also think that a lot of you are saying that because you think it's the right thing to say. I liked a lot about the movie, which wasnt just Depp.

I think you think what you believe you want to think. Isn't that right Neo?

Depp is a good actor, who really does rise above this film. I can't see how saying "The best actor in this film gave the best performance" is a cliche or the "right thing to say".

The film stinks. All IMHFO of course!

Oh and lately any kind of debate on this forum turns into a flamefest, I'm so NOT flaming you mef I just don't agree with what you said at all. Search around on here you'll see I don't exactly follow the pack or care whats in or out at the moment etc etc.

I agree mate but I get sick to death of hearing the same old shit about Depp. Yes, he is a good actor and yes he did help this film but I also think the rest of the film was pretty cool too.
