My mother wants a new mobile but I have no clue whats any good? It needs to be pay as you go and be either flip or slider.

Whats good out there? Obviously it doesn't need to be full of functions/features but looks/reliability are a concern.

Also I'm asking you spazzes because I dont own a mobile.

There are loads. Its probably the services she wants rather than the handset itself that's more important (voicemail, free texts, roaming options etc.)

Get her a Nokia - I find them a lot easier to use and navigate around than motorolas, and if my Mum can handle it, then your Mum can. Then just try and find her a set up that allows her to have free calls and texts to you and family, and unleash. My mum texts me all the time now.

Also I dont have a mobile, but my sister does so something with free texts for my mum would be great rewenge ( if you get that then /bow ) on my sister

Reweng-e surely? T-mobile have a free weekend texts offer on the moment for payg, but I'm sure most of the providers have similar deals. Probably worth checking out the likes of Virgin and Tesco as well, they always seem to have lots of deals geared towards payg customers.

5300 is lame! Dont buy it (got one myself atm), I find it incredibly hard to use (though I am use to a different style of handset that i used for years) It has bugger all internal memory and it's incredibly hard to move stuff to the flash card.

Having said that, it does look pretty cool and I guess the music quality is fairly good.

But if ECA's mum is anything like my mum, the phone won't be used for music, or taking videos, or photos. It'll just be for texting people to tell them when the cat has a furrball, and phoning you from ASDA to let you know they have a special offer on meatballs. Jiggery pokery is kept to a minimum.

Are you kidding? Moto's have a horrible interface. I have introduced my dad, mum and two uncles to mobiles. Nokia or Sony for ease of use.

You should be able to get a Nokia 1600, or 2310 for between £20 - £30, very easy, simple first mobiles. It depends which network you want, they all subsidise the price of certain handsets.

Samsung have a very nice UI, is up there with Nokias.

Motorola's is notoriously rubbish..
