My lvl 21 Infil took his first trip into BG1 last night for some fun and to see what was happening out there.

With only 7 in stealth I thought I would have a very little chance in perfmoring any of my CS but was gonna try backstab anyway.

Well I came out of our PK to see a bunch of hibs standing not too far for alb bridge, I stood there for a min thinking now how the hell am I gonna get close to them with my low stealth, when all of a sudden they charged. I stood there thinking someone would see me, but a few ran passed. I turned back round and had a elf lining up an arrow at someone, hehe u can guess what I did next :)

I managed to PA him with only 7 stealth while he was in a crowd roflmao!!

Well of course they all ganked my after but this just shows that anything is possible :)

And to that elf I hit, Just wait till I have 24 :p

Really dont know how stealth works, but i usually see the infil/ns before they backstabb me or another mid next to me. But still they sometimes get their backstabb in. But hey when i'm still standing wiht 80% hits left they run and me stun.. Looks so funny... Specially thoose tiny lurikeens looking like above average size rats..

I believe stealth works on a 3 second bubble (check done every 3 secs) around the person so if a person comes into visible range (whatever formula for stealth range is cant remember) just after the bubble has been done then they can successfly have about 3 secs to get a move off they may get unlucky as well. As far as I know.

This is true. Players are completely invisible until the server sends the relevant update to the client. This can be forced afaik by spamming the /loc command which forces updates.

ah that 3 second bubble is the time it takes for the model to load.. I doubt its intentional

Um, a model loads in a good deal less than 3 seconds... ;)
The 3 second bubble is so the server doesn't have to make stealth checks 20 times per second per person. The bubble size is modified by your stealth skill though, so higher stealth means they have to get closer to have any chance of spotting you.

ok the Stealth range is worked like this.

Gap between your stealth Spec and the level of the enemy x 25

So so some examples

Your Stealth = 7 there level = 24 thats a gap of 17
so its 17x25 = 425
so the enemy can see you from a range of 425

If your stealth spec is more or equal to there level then the detect range is just 25 (which isn't even enough to Autofollow a stealther)

so you can see having high stealth is well worth it,

Close but no cigar, this is how it works :p

Note: If the stealther's spec is higher than the observer's level, this becomes a constant of 125 or 250 units.
Non-detect hidden class: [(observer's level - stealther's spec) * 20] + 125
Detect Hidden Class: [(obvserver's level - stealther's spec) * 50] + 250
Class with See Hidden: 3000

So the minimum range at which they will see him is 125 units ^^. If he had 24 stealth that is.
