B2 (as you know got made redundant on xmas eve) just toddled off to the job centre to sign on today...which as you may know will probably take about 2 hours of sitting about filling in forms and being bored, I got a phone call from a guy he had an interview with that he actually probably doesn't need to sign on as the interview was rather successful so I thought I'd just call the JC and see if they could pass the msg on to check his phone msgs.

After being passed about 3 times I got put through to a woman who did a lot of that horrible Mmmm'ing through her nose at me whenever I said anything so it was like "hello, my names Amber and "mmmm " my boyfriend is there but I need to get an" mmmm "urgent message to him " Mmmm "...


Anyway, the Mmmm'er says that she cannot tell me if he is there (to which I say I know he is there but don't need her to give me any personal details because I just need him to check his cell phone) "we don't allow mobiles on in here" ...yes but he doesn't need to be there, I'm calling to tell him not to waste his time, he's got a job!! " I can't do anything about that" ..."RIGHT, so yes I understand you at the job centre cannot inform someone that they have found employment and insist they sit through 2 hrs of useless paperwork...sounds about right!!!" *fume and hang up on Mmm'ing bitch*


Tbh I know about data protection, I know about all these privacy laws and stuff and I also know a lazy flaming jobsworth when I speak to one lol, if she was actually any use at all she'd of just nipped downstairs and put an announcement for a B2 to check his cell messages and that was all that was needed.

So the lesson here? Don't bother going to the job centre because they sure as shit won't help you lol.

i'm currently training to be a teacher and the profession, as well as the education sector as a whole is rife with people like this. it is endlessly frustrating because these type of people ultimately do little more than stunt progress across the board and bring down morale.

I do feel compelled to answer; at the library we actually do go out of our way, a woman left her purse in the library after it closed and the lib manager came back in on her day off just to open up and retrieve it for her. I have done numerous things which are not in my job spec but I do because I like to help and often they are simple but sometimes take ages to do or are complicated and a real headache but the people are mostly grateful for us taking the time for it.

Now continue being on my ignore list as you've been since september and stop replying to me you silly man!

The example i put is valid, that's how EQ would've posted it here if the roles were reversed.

First complaining about annoying customers and then complaining about workers who don't go out of their way to pass along a message, that's double standards.

And fyi; she wasn't trying to save the job centre the trouble, she could give a f*ck about them, she wanted to save his boytoy the trouble. Which she could(possibly if it's not too far) do by trotting over there.

I don't care if every single person here is on some EQ patpat list where they can't say anything negative, but i sure as hell will point out these.

Also the job centres really are awful, but consider the people that work there. They have to go through the motions so often, knowing full well that most of the people can't be helped by them, that they give up. That is the impression I got of all job centre staff, disillusioned and bored.

I feel for the people that work there. I'm sure that they went there with the best of intentions & then met the Asda dwelling denizens that actually go to the place regularly.

When was that? My mate was talking about it the other day, said he did all the paperwork on the internet so when he went in the first time it took 10minutes, and that you don't have to sign off at all anymore.

well to update you all, when B2 finally got home he called the chap back and does have the job and it will be all formalised on friday so yaaay! as to the jobswoth I can't help wondering what would have happened if I'd said I really need to speak to B2 because I'm in labour (not preggers btw just an example) or someone in his family had died or was seriously ill or he was needed for an urgent governmental deployment to save world peace and get me a pizza because it's too cold to go to the shop, bet she'd of still said nope Oo
