3-0 to us at half-time. Let's see if we can make it 6 by full-time :)

Good game but:

1) Never bring sheringham on again - why??

2) I wish they'd push for the full 90 mins - the last 15 mins were shit again :(

but still:

YAY!

RAH go england :)

Poor old Peter Schmeical in the BBC studio - imagine the piss he had took out of him. I thought Denmark were very unlucky not to score - good game, roll on Friday!

1) The main 2 strikers were pulled off to rest them and avoid them getting any serious injuries. As it was I think Owen has a groin injury which isn't serious by all accounts and should be fine for Friday. Ditto Scholes, he twisted his ankle, but Eriksson said he'll be fine for the Brazil game (cos lets face it, there's no way in hell Brazil will lose to Belgium). Ditto Heskey - he was subbed to keep him in good condition for next Friday.

And Sheringham was brought on to give him his 50th cap for England, and if you're pulling off your 2 main strikers to keep em good for the next match then why deny him cap #50?

2) No need to, the job was done after 44 mins, so there was no need to push their luck. Just sit back and make sure of the result. No need to push the team and risk further injuries, or even conceding a goal or two in the 2nd half which would've changed the complexion of the game totally.

I agree with Sar, it does seem madness to sub strikers when you are 3-0 up, but then again, if we can hold off an Argie onslaught at 1-0 for 15 minutes like the last game then why worry we would throw away 3-0 ?

We held off the Argies at 2-2 with 10 men for over an hour last Finals !

Make no mistake, England have got a rather solid defence.

Yeah, Rio and Campbell have been very, very slick almost always.
Danny Mills has been very impressive too.

We never looked more likely to concede than when we sat back. Ditto the other games.

I think that if we meet Brazil they'll have the quality to turn our sitting back into a goal rush :(

If we push forward tho - I think we'll have 'em :)

If you push forward unnecessarily you stretch the team and leave yourself open. If you have a 3-0 lead in a knockout game there is absolutely no reason to do that other than for entertainments sake, and the team are not there to entertain the fans, they're there to do a professional job.

You would never make a footy manager Scouse.

Brazil actually have a weak defence that has never really been tested yet, I am hoping that although they may be able to get some past our guys, we have got the ideal people for running rings and scoring a few of our own.

Goal Rush it may be, but I reckon both sides will be onto it.

Lets just hope to God that Belgium don't carry off a flukey win - I'm drooling at the thought of England vs Brazil :)

We cant beat Brazil if we defend, we have to take the game to them and exploit the weak defence. We cant sit back and let them play how they always do. If we do that they will score and score. We have the better defence, and both teams have a good set of strikers. We must take the game to them and exploit the weak defence they have and set them on the back foot. If we do that we can win, if we sit back they will just get a goal or two. Brazil play attacking football, and dont like to defend, and always loose out when defending, most teams this tourney have sat back against Brazil and got done over, we cant afford to do the same ;)

But thats if Brazil get through :p

aye, Brazil vs. England seems very mouth watering ,for once, i may actually get up in the morning and watch it all the way, may even stay off college if its in the mornin (;))

But that is gonna be Game of the Tournament no doubt about it, England have gained a shit load of Respect after comin thru the Group Stage, and every team is weary of em

Being realistic here, I think England will lose to Brazil. If they play like they did against Argentina it might only be 1-0. But if they play as they did in the rest of the matches it will probably be a humping. Don't get me wrong, I want England to do well this world cup (just not too well, if they win it us non-English brits will never hear the fucking end of it), but I feel Brazil will just be a step too far. They just have far too much quality in their squad. Germany 2006 might be a different story tho, if Hargreaves, Dyer et al develop properly.

In this tourney we've seen suprise after suprise - wtf would have put money on Senegal in the quarters, Argentina, France and Portugal out first round and err Gazza as a pundit? :)

I think Brazil will romp all over Belgium but this tournament has been full of shocks.

England v Brazil will be amazing but I wont complain if Belgium pull off a flukey win then we go and kick Belgies all over :)

EDIT: France not Italy went out - duh! wishful thinking on my part.
