Omaha Beach - Coastal Guns versus the Ship

The other night on one of the EAUK 50 player servers I managed to get some of the chaotic rabble to formulate a plan and send Axis Scouts up the beach-head to spot the ship and then sink it with the big guns.

Manning the gun and looking at the scout view I could see no ships </nelson>, the scout viewpoint was in a place I'd previously explored for having a fine view of the ship so it wasn't out of range.

Bug ? Or deliberate methinks ?

No, the scout view was from someone standing on the beach, close to where the Allied tank appears, the ship is normally plainly visible from that point, but it still does not appear in the scout view from the coastal gun.

Bizarre. I've not really played around with scout view and then jumping into artillery, but from what I remember, the scout view is higher and back from where the scout was. I could be wrong though. I often am.

I've sunk it from the scout view in the gun, so dunno what's going on there. Might be just one of the bugs rearing an ugly head
