A Drink-driver has been banned from driving for 18 months after crashing his car into a brick wall. Lee Roy Elden, aged 22, of Wileman Street, Fenton, was breathalysed after the accident in Blurton Road, Blurton, at 12.55am on Saturday, May 31.
Elden tried to flee from the scene but was caught by police officers. His car was written off in the accident.
Elden was returning home after going to a barbecue at a friend's house when his car hit a kerb, turned on its side and smashed into a wall.
Nick Ryles, defending, said Elden had only just bought the Vauxhall Calibra car for £1,500 and it was now a write-off. "It has been a very expensive evening for him in the long run," he said. Elden pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and driving without due care and attention.

The handy work is that of an old school chum of mine (from both primary and high school). Does anyone know someone from school that has done better? (in the criminal sense obv)

I'm only just at Uni, but considering the secondary school I went to, I suspect a number of "acquaintances" from there are in the slammer already...

I met up with a load of old school friends in a pub in Plymouth over Christmas...I'd not even spoken to any of them since I left sixth form in '96 apart from to arrange this...

...Anyway, I walk in, and they go all quiet...some actually look scared. Turns out a kid in my class who had exactly the same name as me (Well pretty much, I'm Jon Austin, he's Jon Austen) had alledgedly knocked over a post office for £8 (!) with a knife, assualted someone and spent several years in jail.

Funny thing was it was nearly the end of the evening when this eventually came out. No wonder they'd been asking weird questions all night. Hell, I wouldn't have even have come and met me!

(Jon if you're out there I'm sorry but the point of the story is we share a name so I can't exactly keep yours secret. Don't kill me.)

a few 'friends' are in jail (which is what I predicted when we left school)
and one is currently in hiding in fear of backlash from Anti-Taliban 'people'

Guy a year above me in secondary school and an old next door neighbour was sentenced to 3 years for armed robbery.

Guy in my class stole a Sinclair C5 from Derriford Hosipital car park and was fined quite a lot. Not sure if that one came under grand theft auto.

Another guy in my class was a passenger in a car that did 120 mph down to a mini-roundabout, lost control and crashed into a subway. Verdict for him, death :(

The story does remind me of a friend I had in junior school, I used to play round his house a few times, he went to another senior school to me, but as they were on the same bus route I used to bump into him a few times.

Later on, after I left schoold, I heard he got depression and ended up committing suicide by driving his car into a wall, it was in the local paper.

All a bit weird for me really.

A few of my schoolfriends wound up in prison, its kind of sad really, I knew them and they weren't that bad, they just had a shitty life at home.

One guy at my school was escorted to his Standard Grade exams by two policemen, who took him away again afterwards.
