Years ago I was, for want of a better word, a raver.

Every couple of weeks, Id use my hard earned £32 a week and skuttle off to Cambridge or London or wherever the latest RainDance or Telepathy was and get off my nut on whatever was around.

This was back in like '89, '90, '91.

Question is, is there an album out there with all the old stuff on? Things like the origional Playing with Knives, Altern 8, early Prodigy, Homeboy, a hippy and a funky dredd?
At the time, top DJ's were the likes of Carl Cox, Jumping Jack Frost, Grooverider etc. (all big still I know)

Any help would be appreciated.

Depends what your after, do you want what was popular in the local clubs or what was actualy being played in London / City clubs and pirate radio?

I suggest you listen to Remaniss radio, DJ's do free mixes and downloads in the Remaniss forum, top blokes, if you went clubbing around London and Essex you will know some of them in there. Also check out Beats 24/7 for more elusive tracks, they cater nicely for the "you know the one went bee bop, loo la doo de da, eek, eek, came out about 89 I heard it at Fantasy @ C.Common while I was wasted ;)" You can listen to samples too, help you find what you want.

Strictly Underground Records still do their ilegal rave CD's, now they are worth getting, if you havn't already got them? They also hold a back catalogue of old vinyl (top stuff). More hard to find stuff try B247 or ebay, plenty of old vinyl SUR, Reinforced Records, Moving Shadow etc...

But if you want a good all rounder and not anything specific, just check Amazon out (enter old school & rave in to search on music) load of stuff...

Ben the guy behind Chap FM has updated saying that he is now streaming 128kbps instead of 56kbps. So you can now listen to all your old favourites online in better quality.

Chap FM Oldskool now in Widescreen
Back when Chap FM Oldskool started up there didn't seem to be a lot of point in streaming at a higher bitrate than the standard 56kbps. Things have changed a lot in the three years since then, so it's about time I did this. Give it a shot and let me know how you get on.

Experimental Chap FM Oldskool 128Kbps stream

He will also be adding some more mixes soon as well, great news for those that used to party hard! :D
