Well not quite that easy i expect if you want a new processor your going to need a new motherboard. With a new mobo your gonna need a new set of ram to keep up with the processor otherwise your old ram will just bottleneck the system.

im Guessing entry lvl these days will be about 1.4ghz and yes to get anything like good performance and the extras on SI you should be looking at a Geforce 4 gfx card but dont go for the mmx range it sucks.

Also you will probably need to up your psu too.

but those are just my thoughts

Try posting this also in the hardware/software forum, they're very helpful there.

get a new pc. any graphics card will make little difference on a comp with such a low processor speed, and even then (as much as i hate too) i would recommend an ati 9700, or even a gf4 (getting reasonably cheap now) over an FX. the stats just rnt impressive enough to attract really. your looking at 200quid more than a ATI for a card that only JUST beats the competition (something cant be right considering its 500mhz clock speed). wait till June for the NV-35 if you want a top card, untill then get something to keep you going.

Depends on your cash situation, but Id also recommend replacing your majro components:

AMD Athlon (say 1400)+ reasonable mobo you can get now for around the £100-150 mark for both, check out some of the bundle deals.

GForce 4 Ti4200 now retailing at about £100+vat, avoid any card thats GF2, 3 or 4 MX, its a cut down of the original. Try for the 128Mb versions, theres only about £5-15 difference for the extra memory.

Try www.ebuyer.com , www.dabs.com or www.novatech.co.uk for some examples

aye, dunno how much your looking to spend, but i did a full upgrade on my pc and have now ended up pretty much building a new pc for about 800 quid, including an ASUS A7V8X mobo, athlon xp 2200 (1.8ghz), creative SB Audigy and GF4 TI4600 (also got mouse/keyboard, cdr drive, case, fans, cpu heatsink and fan (upgrading that again though for something quieter), 60gb HD and a few other bits and bobs in the price)
